Today, each of the historic structures, furnished with authentic artifacts, provides a vivid look at life in the nineteenth century North Texas frontier. Each log house displays different aspect of pioneer life. The exhibits include a water-powered gristmill, a one-room schoolhouse, a blacksmith shop, an herb garden, and several log home settings. Historical interpreters, who are City of Fort Worth staff and volunteers, depict the lifestyle of the people who lived and settled the area in the mid to late 1800s.

I liked it! I travel for work in Texas and had a few hours to kill. I have been wanting to learn about Texas history and this museum was perfect! I learned about Texas history and the daily life of the cabin families. The museum is located in an oak grove in Fort Worth that is itself very pretty. It's... More

It is really a great place to go to the learn about history in the early years. You can walk though it and see all the buildings and what they were used for.

Just seeing how small the homes were that entire families lived in and the fact that there was no air conditioning back then in this Texas heat will be a good reminder of how blessed you are today.

Check out the beauty and quiet living of the past. Hard work, and quiet nights in very small quarters makes you appreciate what folks went through generations ago just to make it through the night. See them grind meal, make soap and carry water from the water powered Gristmill. There is a one-room schoolhouse, a blacksmith shop, an herb garden,... More

Segway Fort Worth recommended this location to visit after my tour with them. I'm so glad they suggested this as another location to visit. I learned some things walking the grounds. The structures were very fascinating especially since the writings discussed the contributions of slaves to the construction of the homes.

This is a great educational field trip for kids as it is a step back in time to the Colonial period. Docents in period attire make it educational and interesting.

I have been to this Fort Worth staple many times over the years. If you have kids it is fun lots of interactive things going on. There is an admission fee. It is good to walk around and see how Quanah Parker lived back in the day!!!

We loved it .... Wonderfully preserved cabins. Grandkids loved all the hands on activities. Enjoyed learning about the people and tools from that era.

To step back into the past of Texas, visit this place! The stories behind the families and buildings, the wonderful restorations, all come together to make a memorable visit to the past.
