When visiting Fredericksburg , I suggest making the Pioneer Museum your first stop. You will appreciate and enjoy the rest of your visit even more so. You will learn all about the immigrants that came from Germany looking for a new life in America , their journey and all the hardship they had to endure to make it to Texas.... More

When arriving in Fredericksburg we decided to drive down the street to get an idea of the area. We spotted the Pioneer Museum Complex and decided to stop. This was a wonderful decision providing an introduction to the history of the area which I do not feel we could have gained elsewhere.

It was not busy when we visited, we had the whole place to ourselves. We started with the 15 minute video which set the background. The buildings on the property show how people lived back in the 1800s. Lots to see

We stopped by here on a Friday morning as we were headed out of town. Thought we would do a quick run through. Ended up spending a couple of hours. Very nice woman working in the gift shop area who had personal knowledge of some history of the Museum. Went on a self-guided tour with my husband and 16-year old... More

Thank you for coming and especially for bringing a young student. We are so glad you found it worthwhile. I'll pass the good word about the medical exhibit on to our curator who created it. More

The Pioneer Museum is a joy to visit - a narrative video prepares you to visit the spacious 3.5 acre campus with several buildings representing the early days of Fredericksburg. Many buildings also have audio narratives about those buildings read by descendants of local pioneer families - very informative and entertaining.

Read about this town and museum and went out of way a bit to see it. Rich in history, great artifacts in the main house, easy to walk around on the grounds. Paper guided tour. $5 each person. Very clean restrooms which are accessible from inside the information/gift shop building and from the outside. I learned what a Sunday House... More

My wife and I kind of happened onto the Pioneer Museum's Gift Shop turning onto Fredericksburg's Main Street and decided to take a peek. We didn't have time to go into and enjoy the museum grounds, but the exhibits visible outside in the side yard and the free indoor exhibits (many glassed for preservation) sparkled with information and quality care....
