Having no family or friend in the oil business, I have never thought about building or living on an oil rig. It was a truly fascinating hour visit. With the senior discount it was very reasonable.

We enjoyed the oil rig tour, the movie and the exhibits. It was a fabulous way to spend a few hours learning about extracting a very important resource, the history and advances they industry has made over time.

The information, displays, movie, the oil rig itself I found to be a great attraction to spend at least 2 hours! Great history and information on drilling, and all it entails.

An OK visit. Learned a few things. Was good to be able to get up onto the drill platform. The only complaint is the parking - $6 seemed a little steep.

Interesting location (on wharf ) and layout. Nice staff. Easy way to learn more about how oil wells are drilled and what people who work on drillling rigs in the ocean actually do. Would have been good to have a summary of what happens to oil afterwards -- how it is transported to the refineries, and eventually reaches the gas... More

My husband, an engineer, wanted to visit the Ocean Star to learn more about offshore drilling. I was not as enthused, but curious as well. The information provided here is amazing and we both went away from the Ocean star with a new respect for just what ocean drilling involves. We learned a lot about the whole process! Amazing to... Good introduction to oil rigs and how they work in general. The overall presentation is alright although the film dating from 1997 does not meet today's standards of presentation anymore. I bet, the technology has made a leap too since then...

my wife works in the oilfields, but on land. After seeing the movie Deep Water Horizon, she had a thousand questions about how off shore drilling works. This attraction answered all of them.

After a long career in the petroleum business I cannot say enough about how great it was to visit an actual rig. The museum was well put together with many exhibits that even a non industry person could want. Don't miss this opportunity because I don't think you can have this inexpensive opportunity anywhere in the world.
