If you enjoy live entertainment you must see a performance here. The architecture and attention to detail are amazing in this grand opera house, and you really get a feel for what it was like for the wealthy of Galveston to go out in the late 1800's.

Went to visit this landmark in Galveston just off the Strand and was taken back to a simpler time in history. This Opera House is still in use today and is probably in much of the same restored condition it was in during early operations. The tour is self guided and very inexpensive to do. Does not take long to... More

We were very fortunate enough to get a tour of the 1894 Opera House. The acoustics in there are incredible. One could speak, sing and deliver lines to the audience without amplification. The seats have been restored with a crusched blue velevet that looks rich. We can't wait to see a live show there next time around.

We went to watch the Houston Ballet's production of the Nutcracker. It was a fun Christmas activity and this theater was an excellent setting. It's a generally small theater so all seats have an excellent view of the stage. Great historic building with great artwork and hard painted ceilings. If you do go to watch a show, bring cash for... We were downtown Galveston on a Saturday and were able to do a self guided tour for free. This is a beautiful old theater and should not be missed by anyone in the area.

Always a good show here. Love the place. Used to have my dance recitals here as a little girl, so it's nostalgic. Never seen a bad performance here. Love the look and feel of the place, love the history. Only complaint is that the seats are very close together, I could not even cross my legs during the performance. And... More

Thank you for the review! Glad you enjoyed our sippy cups, too! Yes, we are limited on space due to the historic footprint of the building (same with seat configuration). Please visit with our ticketing staff, they can guide you to seat selections with the most leg room. More

I love being inside old buildings such as this. For the first time ever, I stepped foot into the Grand Opera House. I have been visiting Galveston for 35 years, and this was my first time to visit the Opera House for an event. My family of three enjoyed the onstage musical version of Rudolph. The Grand Opera House was... More

The Galveston Opera House is a restored and impressive Romanesque Revival structure that can be toured even if you're not going to a concert. The box office attendant can let you in for $2 (because the house curtain was down, she let us in for free) and give you a pamphlet. Go to the top floor by elevator and walk... More
