Fossil Rim Wildlife Center is where Africa comes to Texas. Our 1,800-acre preserve holds a 9.5 mile scenic drive where you can interact with over 1,100 rare and endangered animals roaming free in their herds. Stay in your car, reserve your spot on a guided tour, or even spend a night at our Safari Camp or Lodge to see over 50 different species of wild animals including cheetahs, wolves, giraffes, rhinos and more. The delicious food at The Overlook Cafe is paired with an incredible view overlooking the park and our gift shop offers souvenirs to take home to family and friends. While Fossil Rim is sure to provide a unique experience and exciting adventure, we are dedicated to the conservation of species on the brink of extinction. Fossil Rim conducts scientific research, trains professionals, responsibly manages our natural resources and is committed to public education. We are a not-for-profit breeding center dedicated to the recovery of species in the wild and we invite you to join us in our efforts. Grab your camera and head this way for the scenic wildlife drive you won't forget. Located in Glen Rose, Texas, we are just 52 miles SW of Fort Worth and well worth a visit for people of all ages!

It was overcast and chilly today. An excellent excuse to buy a new fleece in the gift shop before heading out on our three hour tour. Our guide was warm and full of information as she expertly navigated the hilly roads from paddock to paddock. We met and fed all sorts of deer antelope ostrich emu bocks.. We saw cheetahs... More

This activity is for all ages. You get a different experience on every visit. Worth the money! Disappointed we could not get near the giraffes. Plan to spend at least 2 hours. There is a small restaurant half way through the park but it's very busy on the weekends. Don't take a new car.

We return here 2 or 3 times a year with our 2 kids, ages 10 and 11. An awesome place! The animals are great to witness in their natural habitats. You can hand feed most of them. Giraffes licked all of us our last ride--you get lucky with the giraffes--sometimes they don't come to the windows of your car. But animals... More

I've been visiting Fossil Rim for years. I go out two or three times annually because it's nice to hand feed deer rather than watch them eat from afar. It's generally peaceful. I like the red deer and how they have no sense of personal space. It's currently under construction just like all of Dallas which is an unsightly bummer,... More

So many different ways to do Fossil Rim Wildlife Center. The standard in-car tour is a fantastic start (if you are into feeding giraffes by hand). If you want more, I strongly suggest you check out the safari camp. Stay overnight IN the park inside comfortable tent/cabins. Get behind the scenes tours that include the world-renowned cheetah habitat. Your kids... More

I've been to Fossil Rim Wildlife Center four times this year (2016) - separately with my granddaughter (9), with my grandson (11) and twice with an adult friend. The first time I drove to the Center in the morning and took the self-guided tour and really loved the experience -- seeing many different herds and getting to feed a few... More

One solo adult, a rental car, and a free day during a trip to Dallas/Ft Worth. Absolutely extraordinary! Enter the park and immediately there are animals roaming freely near the car. Toss some kibble (available at the ticket center) and enjoy visitors near the car. Wildebeest, zebra, deer-like critters, GIRAFFE!!! Delightful! Cheetah and rhino behind fences. Ostrich rather aggressive (thank... More

Be prepared to spend a couple of hours in your car to enjoy this place. Take your time to enjoy. Be on the look out because you never know where the animals will be. Some of the animals are not shy about coming up to the car and poking their head in. Kids will love this especially if you have... More

We spent the night in the Safari Cabins and had the most enjoyable time. Checked in at the lodge and then went and did about a 2 hour drive thru. Absolutely wonderful, actually spotted most of the animals on the drive thru. Grabbed a "to go" dinner out in Glen Rose and headed back to the safari cabin area. Sat... More
