- Thomas VOakland, California18,091 contributionsImpressed by the ScopeWe drove around this area and I was impressed with the size and scope of the big convention center. There are hotels nearby. We did not go inside, but I suppose it has the usual features of a big city convention center. Can accommodate lots of people.Visited February 2024Travelled with familyWritten 22 February 2024
- StephToronto, Canada234 contributionsGreat experience attending Collect A ConWas here to attend Collect-A-Con, great experience. Very sweet security who did their job professionally and kindly. Very clean, air-conditioned, easy enough to navigate the floor I was on. I did hear the ATMs broke at one point, but if that isn't every convention I've ever been to.Visited April 2024Travelled on businessWritten 10 April 2024
- MsKieshaAlexandria, Virginia2,804 contributionsGood conferenceOverall I had a good experience. It was connected to 2 hotels used by organization for our conference by a skywalk and that was very helpful. The conference center was not too big where it felt overwhelming walking from one end to the next. I can say the rooms were very cold and stores like Starbucks and the coffee stand closed way too early. Otherwise it was centrally located and I had no issues.Visited May 2024Travelled on businessWritten 22 May 2024

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The George R Brown Convention Center in Houston. A massive building that looks like a huge ship. Downtown location is perfect with several hotels, restaurants, a great activities center. Overall a great place for any thing.

I attended a four day convention here. The place is very clean. And in a nice location. There is however no fast food nearby and no food at all available inside. So if you are working a convention booth all day it’s hard to get food.

This facility is very nice, but it is also very large with long distances between each of their Halls that host the events.
I have a disability that limits my walking.
When I asked one of the staff if i could enter a door that was clearly closer to my event, he told me that since i had a disability, i should have stayed home!
I was shocked by this remark!
I was there to support my daughter and her volleyball tournament, and they tell me this?
They could easily have golf carts to transport the disabled from the parking lot elevator to the various Halls, but they just don’t give a damn!
I’m very disappointed in Houston, which has been my home for 62 years, for allowing this!

I don't know anything about George R Brown or why he has a convention center named for him. I did enjoy the exterior decor of the building.
Inside, it's a convention center. There is a Starbucks inside which made my day, and it has a skywalk to the hotel across the street.
I thought it was very clean for a convention center, the floors clean, etc. I also thought it was very cold inside, but it was summer in Texas and maybe that is how they roll.
Enjoyed my time there.

The rooms are quite spacious and the convention center staff, overall, were super helpful in finding rooms. The numbering system for event spaces is a little odd at first, but once you figure it out, its super easy to get where you need to go. Vending machine prices for soft drinks weren't out of the norm, and the information booth in the convention center for the tourist board was super helpful and friendly.

Attended the Houston Franchise Expo during the weekend and very much enjoyed this convention center. It's huge, but once you know which hall to go to it's easy to get around. Also some food services available at Saltgrass steakhouse is on the ground floor.

The space, location, and temperature were great! There were not enough bathrooms located in a decent walk from our conference.

We usually go here every Thanksgiving weekend to see the big car show in town. The place is huge, by the time You walk around this place you have gotten yourself a good workout. The location is ideal, you can leave there and go straight to Pappadeaux's Seafood restaurant or Pappasitos at the Hotel Americas. I can't imagine any event being too big for this place to handle.
