Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Luckily I found street parking along the street facing the Hilton hotel.
This was a large downtown park that the city acquired from the convention center.
It was at least 10 acres and contained a lot of features that I found to be attractive.
Artwork and flower gardens
Large open spaces to lay a blanket out and enjoy the weather
Restaurants and bars
Pond and fountain
Children’s play area
Small hills to get a higher perspective
Surrounded by skyscrapers for nice backdrop to your photos
outdoor aerobic classes
Quiet and seemed safe
Lots of seating scattered around

I stumbled upon this place while riding a bike throughout Houston, TX. It was pretty packed with people from diverse backgrounds. Live music was playing and people were dancing. Others were picnicking and/or playing outdoor games. The park was not as large as I hoped it to be. However, still a great, relaxing time. There's food galore, either from venders in the park or near by businesses.

We were staying downtown for the Houston Marathon and strolled over to Discovery Green from our nearby hotel. The park is pretty, a nice urban green space located near the GRB Convention Center. There's some cool artwork, huge live oak trees, meandering paths, a playground with equipment for kids to play on and green hills they can slide down. We enjoyed strolling through the Solstice art exhibit with its illuminated light panels. There's always something new to see and do here. Currently they have outdoor ice skating for the winter months. They also offer things like yoga, tai chi, and movie nights; check their website for all the latest events. The park is clean and also has a couple of restaurants where you can dine. Really nice to have this urban oasis in the middle of downtown. Worth a visit if you're staying in the area.

We grabbed dinner at the Phonecia Specialty Market and then spent the evening at this beautiful city park. The kids loved the playground and splash pad area and there were plenty of tables and chairs for adults to relax. After playing we also enjoyed live music at the stage! Bathrooms available. Great city gem!

Ideal Downtown park for the children. My in laws also loved the views of skyline and lake in front of convention center. There are TONS of food places close by and a bunch of markets and pop ups food trucks inside park. Only drawback is how crowded it gets so try to get there as early as possible!!!

Came for the House of Cards exhibit, then took a lovely stroll around the park with friends. Not very busy this time of year due to COVID, but most folks were respectful of spacing and wore their masks. It made for a nice evening with the smaller crowds.

We went to this park twice. During the it was nice but just a normal park. After dark it was cool. Filled with activity. You could tell the people that live in the highrises flock here. There were carrage rides and foods trucks. Lots of people enjoyed the evening. Felt very safe.

Beautiful and clear park. Only negative are the annoying teens on scooters passing through the park too quick. My spouse and I loved the ice skating rink and the art scene. It might be warm in Texas but the Christmas scene was so beautiful. Park was recommended by our tour guide to walk through after dinner.

The Discovery Green is located across from the George R. Brown Convention Center. There is lots of places to eat around the Green included Biggio's Sports Bar. The Discovery Green is centrally located between Minute Maid Park and the Toyota Center.
Discovery Green has lots of open areas for families and kids to play.
The Wortham Gardens are beautiful.
There is some interesting art around the Greens.
The pond is very nice. During the winter, you can ice skate.
There is nearby underground parking. The parking is $10 to $15 for an hour or two.
The children's play area was unfortunately locked down.

Nice park with lake and live music right in Downtown Houston. I thought it was also very very clean for a downtown park. I didn't appreciate almost getting hit by a teenager with a scooter though

Where is the best place with lighting (as it will be 9pm and dark) to tell a Mariachi band to meet my boyfriend and I to surprise him and have it filmed?
Written 22 February 2017
I am not sure whether you ended up meeting your boyfriend and got it filmed! We have awesome night lights all over Houston and it depends where you want to go!!! I personally like Woodlands around Woodland Waterway as it is very romantic and also around Alan Parkway in Downtown.

I meant to give Discovery Green an excellent 5 start rating-sorry for the confusion!

As well as the cafe in the middle of DG there is also an excellent restaurant on one side of the park that would easily seat 25+, called The Grove. We have eaten there often, service is good and the food is good. Easily accessed from the underground parking area too. I think that they have outdoor areas as well. Enjoy!

Is there a restaurant on site or near by that could accommodate about 20-25 people?
I'd like to visit next Tuesday, January 20, around 12:30 or 1:00 pm.
