Great for a quiet walk or birding. You can still hear the hum of traffic from the beltway but you certainly feel like you've gotten out of the city. About 1.5 walk as you wind through the cross crossing trails.

The Houston weather in August is brutal. Walking outdoor is a challenge, unless you find a place like this where you can walk in shade of big trees. E. L. Moore Nature Sanctuary is one of few in the middle of Houston. Grab a book...More

I have been coming here for over 20 years, and every time I do it seems more beautiful. As the city expands around this piece of paradise, the trees grow older and scenery is that much more special. If you like to hike, walk, or...More

A little slice of nature in an urban environment- this is a good way to describe the Edith Moore Nature Sanctuary. It’s the headquarters of the Houston Audubon and one of those places that surprises in multiple ways when you visit for the first time....More

We went on a rainy day. There isn't really much here if the weather isn't nice enough to walk the trails or you aren't in a school group. Finding the entrance is pretty tricky if you don't have a GPS since it's hidden in a...More

I think that the old saying 'Mad dogs and Englishman go out in the midday sun' is correct in my case. Mid August and I cycled the 30 minutes from my hotel to the Edith. L. Moore sanctuary and found myself pretty much alone. Not...More

Edith Moore Nature Center is about 16 miles from MD Anderson Cancer Center, or about a half hour drive in Houston traffic. I don't know of any public transportation to get there.
