The whole area around the statue is beautiful; the trees and breathtaking and the walking paths are easy to navigate. There is a lot of Texas history around Sam Houston and they do a good job of framing it without being dull.

Great place to get out of car for a stretch and learn about Sam Houston. If visiting Huntsville, stop in for a look see. Sit in the front porch swing and imagine that life so long ago.

Nice Visitor Center, beautiful park with picnic tables under majestic pine trees. The statue is a must see up close. Driving past the statue on the highway doesn't do it justice.

Anyone who loves Texas History needs to stop and see the statue to a man who helped change how people view Texas. His stature can be seen in this monument, as he looks out on East Texas.
