There is a lot of information in the area around the gravesite. Yellow fever killed a lot of residents in the area.

There is a main museum building dedicated to the life of Sam Houston. There are not many artifacts. You just walk from room to room reading the displays. Admission is a "Suggested Donation" of $5 for adults. The grounds around that main building have various buildings related to Houston's life and is laid out like a really nice park. There... More

FYI people. The statue of Sam Houston and his graveside are not on the museum grounds. Still a must to see in Huntsville, Texas.

Sam Houston loved Texas. But he loved his family more. This park tells the story of the Houston family (who've been family friends of mine for nearly 50 years). I asked my wife to marry me at the steps of the Steamboat House.

Headed out on a beautiful Sunday to see more Texas history. This museum was an excellent adventure ($4 for seniors). Very well done, 3 rooms covering Sam Houston's early life to his years making legendary history and finally his later years. I got chills when I saw Santa Anna's sword, cane, and saddle he had at the battle of San... More

Not just the old buildings, moved here as a collection, but check out the special events such as blacksmithing and woodworking which are scheduled on occasional Saturdays.

We had to leave too soon, but I really enjoyed seeing everything I was able to see. I adore history, especially Texas history and this is definitely the place to go to get educated on Texas and Sam Houston, a key player in our Texas history.

Wonderful place for children to walk the grounds and experience life in the 1800's. There are several buildings from throughout Houston's life such as his law office, his homestead house, and the house he died in. All are set up with furniture and items from his life. The grounds are beautifully kept, and the duck pond is a great place... More

We decided to stop and see the statue of Sam Houston and take pics as my husband is related to him. When we got out of the car and walked around we realized there was much more to see then we knew. Very nice little park.

The museum was well kept. It was educational and enjoyable. The staff was friendly enough. There is a gift shop. The grounds are great. It was really nice to take a walking tour of the homes Sam Houston lived in as well as the kitchen, law office, etc. There is a walking trail and a pond and creek with ducks... More
