A one-hour tour of one of Jefferson's most historic - and haunted - locations. The Grove is an 1861 home that uniquely mirrors the history of the riverport city... and the ghost stories there go back over 100 years. The history of the home is...more
All reviews ghost stories the owner previous owners great tour love history current owners have ghostly encounters interesting history paranormal activity interesting place in town mitchell home writer house books storyteller
What a wonderful tour. For sure the highlight of my trip. The lovely couple who own the house for the past 15 years have done a wonderful job researching the history of the home. This is a must see if you are in Jefferson on...More
This is probably the best tour you can take for under $10. The history in this one house is pretty amazing. Mitchel was so passionate about the house and all the history. The stories he told make it hard to believe that paranormal activity does...More
The Grove, while impressive for it's age, is not that interesting of a home - EXCEPT when you add the flavor of all the people who have lived there. The owner and tour guide, Mitchell, has done his research amazingly and you learn about so...More
Tour given in air conditioned home (praise the Lord) and is very interesting. The current owners have done a lot of research to understand the history of their home and the previous owners. We learned a lot about the town through this tour.
This was a really informative and enjoyable destination. Mitchell, the owner of The Grove and our tour guide, is very obviously passionate about his home, its history, and sharing both it and its story with visitors. He spins a great tale and never once did...More
The owner of this house has done his research to learn the history of his home, and he is a master storyteller. The house is lovely, and every room has its own tale, whether that be the contents of the room or the ghosts that...More
We had made a appointment to have a tour and not knowing what to expect. The house was lovely, the owner and writer was well informed and had a passion for the house and it's history. I definitely suggest tour if you want to know...More
I visit The Grove yearly and always bring “First Timers”. We are never disappointed. Mitchel Whitington’s spell binding stories coupled with the history of The Grove and the town of Jefferson, makes this experience educational and entertaining. My only regret if you will, is that...More

We recommend the tour for ages 10 and above, not because of the ghost stories, but because of the history. Adults LOVE the history of the house, which include a few love stories, but kids can get bored and restless during that half of the tour. The ghost stories aren't frightening at all, though.

Hi - thanks for your question. Probably the only obstacle would be the half a dozen steps on the front of the house. There are a number of photos on our website (just Google "The Grove - Jefferson") or online where you can see them. If they can be assisted up those stairs, everything else should be okay. The tour lasts about an hour and fifteen minutes, and we spend a few minutes in every room on the tour - every room has chairs where they can sit down, however. It would basically be walking into a room, having a seat, listening to the stories there, then standing and walking the few yards to the next room and sitting back down (and so fourth a few more times).
I hope that helps!
