If you like history don't miss the Battleship Texas. You can also visit the San Jacinto Monument for lots of good Texas history.

The museum was free and very informative even for the none Texan! Interesting artifacts supporting the story/information boards about the birth of Texas. There is an elevator ($6) to the top of the tower, which is a 'must do' given the views it offers at...More

The bottom museum is free, as is the outside. It does cost money to ride the elevator to the top. But wow what a view! Well worth $12. The battleship is on the same property so don't miss that too.

Check out the bathrooms. They are very cool. nearly as old as the monument and thats a good thing. The museum was pretty cool too with a great deal of history including the treaty of Guadalupe Hildago (thanks to the horse movie I remember)

Learn about the foundation of Texas. Plenty of interesting artefacts. Research facilities by appointment. No coffee shop. Take the fast lift to the viewing platform.

See the museum before touring the battlefield. The few bucks to take the elevator to the top is well worth the view of the surroundings. Plenty of parking. The museum only takes a few minutes to walk through but well worth the time.
