Interesting grounds, dogs can run free in most areas and there's even a special place set aside for dogs through some gates by the walls. Nice cafe and shop to refuel afterwards. We enjoyed warm mulled wine, cake and tea on New Years Day. Membership is worthwhile as you can go in earlier than the public etc.

Visited the arboretum in mid November 2016 and was fortunate to enjoy a perfect sunny autumnal day amongst the trees. Had a very fine breakfast experience, cooked to perfection with highest quality locally sourced produce. The breakfast was outstanding. All the party enjoyed the excellent food. The service was friendly and accommodating.

my partner is a tree fanatic and loved this place for the variety and labelling. I liked it for its beauty and peacefulness. We both loved the cafe with amazing cakes.

Such a wonderful retreat for tree-lovers... 120 unspoilt acres offering a rich and varied assortment of trees, both native and non-native species. Whilst there are 'paths' the site is designed to allow you to explore, with plenty of weaving and intersecting tracks encouraging you to define your own journey through the arboretum. There are plenty of thoughtfully placed seats where... More

This was so delightful with Autumn colours and crispy leaves underfoot. A great place to get away from it all and learn about trees. Dogs welcome and can be off their leads in designated area's. Will go back in another season to experience a different aspect to these woods. The cafe was a little on the expensive side but quality... More

Almost 100 percent couples of a certain age on an Autumn Tuesday. Many people had 2 or 3 dogs. A lovely place to get away from it all, and just stroll at leisure. Free car parking was a pleasant surprise. The cafe was friendly and very pleasant. The views in all directions on a fair day are lovely. Walking was... More

It is not yet fully developed but the planting already produces grand vistas, a riot of colour in Autumn and lovely walks. The grand circular walk around the boundary is about 2.5 miles but it is worth doing more and zig zagging your way among the acers, by the small lake and admiring the nascent avenues. There is a lovely... More

A delight to the sense in every respect. Being amongst the trees in such a beautiful place with nature in abundance. Keep your eyes peeled you never know what you will discover. The centre is also amazing with interesting displays and locally sourced items for sale by artisans and artists. Exhibitions are inspiring. The cafe is a 5 star in... More

I have been visiting the Arboretum regularly for about a year, always with my dog. There are plenty of walks, trees, shrubs, bamboos, grassy areas, a lake, a pond, birds. And I always have a drink (and sometimes a soup, sandwich or cake) in the café afterwards.
