Visited Cape Sounio just shortly before sunset on a winter evening. It was worth the drive and the sea view under the shade of the ancient temple of Poseidon breathtaking. The only dissapointment was the poor self service cafeteria facilities. For a place of such unique location was expecting something better. The restrooms though were of high hygiene standard.

Pretty cool place with a nice view of the sea and Attica coast. This must be my favourite historic site in Greece.

A very scenic, less than 40 minute drive from the Athens Riviera with several good fish restaurants to stop at. Nice scenery around the temple and the admission fee of 4 euros is very reasonably priced. There is a restaurant and a little souvenir shop including free WiFi. Only very limited parking available however.

I visited a large number of ruins on this trip and rate this at the top - but don't make it an Athens day trip - stay at one of the hotels and hike up there. See it from the shore at night, all lit up. Meander. Wander. Sit and have a coffee and look out over the water.

Honestly, after being in Greece for 3 weeks, all this stuff starts to blend in! But this one has an awesome view of the ocean and cities around Athens! Pretty cool place!

This is an impressive Temple located about one hour from downtown Athens. The view is wonderful and (with a good camera) you might see graffiti from the poet Bryon. Also, the hot chocolate at the restaurant at the site was the best we had in Greece. The most impressive aspect of the Temple, it has stood for 2500 years with... More

Booked a private trip on line starting from the cruise ship dock in Piraus having previously seen many of the sights that Athens has to offer. Had a coastal tour and arrived after around an hour. 2 Euro entry fee was reasonable enough to see the ruins of this temple and other archaeological sights on this windy headland which occupied... We went here on a tour from Athens and enjoyed the trip as we more of the out of the city sites. Arriving at Cape Sounion and seeing the Temple from a distance away gives it a Wow moment. Though only some of the Temple is still standing high on a cliff, you can imagine what it was like all... More

The Temple of Poseidon is situated on a cape. We travelled to this place from Athens using a sea shore road. Don't miss a chance to do it the same way - there are a lot of wonderful views along the road. You can have a stop to make a couple of shots with you, your family and a sea... More
