About
Escape the hustle and bustle of the Greek capital at Glyfada Beach on the Athens Riviera. With a peaceful atmosphere and pristine white sand, it's the perfect spot to unwind for the day. You can also head to the neighboring marina to take a boat tour of the surroundings. The best part—this is one of the few beaches along Athens' southern coast that offers free umbrellas and showers for visitors. It's recommended to bring your own food to have a picnic as the area around the beach is mostly residential. A couple of hop-on hop-off bus itineraries service Glyfada, but you can also get here easily by riding public transport from the city. – Tripadvisor

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We spent our last day in Athens and decided to go and see beach and rhe shops.
We took a taxi outside our hotel Divani Acropolis and driver was fantastic.
He dropped us off so we could look at some of the splendid shops first and then see part of the beach.
The road beside ships is horrendous and the speeding is equally as bad.
You must cross at traffic lights otherwise you would be killed.
It's a sea of cars buses even for experienced drivers out walking.
Several lanes of traffic each side very off putting.
Rhe beach is under massive renovation 30 miles of it.
We sat for a while then decided to get taxi back.
A young business man and wife had baby in pram and they phoned us a taxi which was indeed a wonderful experience that a human being would put us first.
Would we go back not very sure as it was a nightmare on the road even by taxi.
Drivers were impressed that 2 people 70+ did trip on their own.

A lovely beach experience. Free umbrellas. Lovely clean water. Gentle slope but out of my depth by 30m in. Snack bars 10/15 mins away. I walked to the petrol station and returned with a super light lunch. Or hot dogs just across the road. Couldn't find changing or toilets but managed.

Sand and Sun and a perfect long walk along the beach. Just beautiful. We finished up with a lovely coffee and sweets at the end of our walk

It took us around 50 minutes to get here on the tram from Syntagma Square. The journey was interesting as we got to see other neighbourhoods in Athens. The weather was unusually warm for early January & we sat on a fairly clean beach for a couple of hours before wandering into Glyfada for coffee & food. As city beaches go, it was good for a day trip.

A nice free beach with umbrellas and a lifeguard. The water is very clear and nice for a swim but like most beaches in Greece it's rocky, not sandy. I feel like there is no need for special swimming shoes - we managed just fine barefoot. I didn't experience any of the dangerous atmosphere others mention - people were leaving their things unattended while going for a swim. Didn't notice any suspicious activity - we felt safe. There was a couple of men walking around selling snacks and drinks but I recommend bringing your own.

We got there by tram - if you're taking it from the city you will need to transfer but it's very easy to do so and usually the next tram waits for people from the centre to get on. It can be crowded so be prepared to stand but I enjoyed the views of the coastline on the ride over and back

One of the few free beaches in the area, free umbrella, free showers. You need wet shoes as the beach is shingle and the sea very pebbly. But that's half the fun; we enjoyed many hours of pebble balancing contests! Pretty clean beach and warm clear waters with waves. Probably not suitable for those with young children, the strength of the waves is noticeable and it gets deep quicker than in other beaches on the same stretch of coast.

Disgusting place. No bars or good restaurants. And it took ages to get there. To get to the beach you need to cross a really busy street, and the beach itself is dirty.

I realy enjoyed this beach for the morning swim, empty and easy to enter in the sea. Nice swim, not too deep. Free shade and even shower. Was just a few minutes from the hotel. Get crowdy during the day but by end of day perfect to swim around 19 when the sun is not so hot.

Beach itself is fine. However, our point of view will forever be spoiled. I know it is our own stupidity but we left cash in the locked car. Everything was stolen. Learn from our mistake. Dont give them a chance. Be very careful!!
