Great place to sit and watch the world go by, plenty of bars, restaurants and ice cream shops. What were once open walk ways have been transformed into apartments.

I have visited several Plaza Mayors in Spain and this one is one of the most beautiful, surrounded by old buildings with green painted widows. The highlight is the Corral de las Comedias, an old open theatre built in 1628.

We stopped in Almagro on our way from Cordoba to Madrid. The town is located halfway and is close to the highway. It's worth enter the town and have a lunch or simply take a coffee break in the shade of one of the restaurants...More

We drove to Almagro straight from Madrid Airport. Almagro is a lovely little town with lots of nice photo opportunities. It was Monday night, so everything was deserted except some souvenir shops. One of them was exceptionally well stocked with great stuff.

Loving it here! Such a sleepy Spanish town off the beaten track - could get used to it here! Definitely recommend a stop off.

We visited several cities while in Spain. This place was a little more special for me because of the historical significance. Also love the quaint little city and the shops/restaurant (typical) of most plazas, here. The merchants were very personable and they offered more handcrafted...More

A very busy plaza for what seems like such a small town. Lots of shops and a variety of eateries with many choices.

I would put this up with Salamanca, Madrid and Chinchon. Add to that, that this town is very historic with a lot of old buildings in the center. And then...if you are a theatre buff, you can't go wrong. One of the most pleasant small,...More

We fell into the Plaza Mayor after quite a long journey and badly needed a drink. There are several traditional bars on the plaza all to be enjoyed along with the unspoilt view.

Quite overwhelmed by the scale and shape of the Plaza Mayor, it was so different from other squares that we have seen before in Spain. Still can’t believe that the paint on both sides is the same colour. Very enjoyable to sit out in the...More
