Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We were planning to visit and then noticed an advert for Bermuda Onion Day celebrations on Saturday 18th so made it that day.
Very interesting and made special by the friendly welcome and tasty food on offer. Great to chat to local people and hear about all their efforts with the project and the history. Also interesting to chat to a local lady and hear her family history of her father moving here to marry after Naval service.

Thank you so much for your review. I do appreciate you making the effort to come as Carter House is a little off the beaten track! We Struve to be an oasis in an otherwise busy world where you can sit in silence and historical ambiance and let history speak to you. Hope you were there for the 1877 history of the Mark Twain connection with onions!

This place is well worth a visit if you are on holiday on Bermuda. The house is one of the oldest surviving on the island and It has a wide collection of artefacts from the island's past. There is an interesting display about a way life lost when the US military airfield, now the airport, was built in 1941. Also very informative is the replica of a first settlers house furnished as it would have been in 1612. Entrance is technically free but a $5 donation is suggested.
It is also worth getting there by bus as you will see a part of Bermuda which is off the tourist trail.
