About
Teleferico Benalmadena (Benalmadena Cable Car) offers an aerial trip which takes you from Benalmadena to the top of Monte Calamorro where you can discover the most exclusive panoramas of the Costa del Sol. On the summit, the Cable Car has a complete range of leisure ideas such as falconry displays where you can enjoy the spectacular flights of birds of prey in unspoiled nature, with species such as the peregrine falcon, golden eagle, eagle owl and griffon vulture. The summit also offers different perfectly marked walking routes and strategic viewpoints for taking in the most spectacular landscapes of the Costa del Sol, the Sierra Nevada and, on clear days, Gibraltar and the coast of Africa. The walk also offers you a broad representation of the botanical wealth of this typical Mediterranean landscape, with species of great ecological interest such as sideritis, rockrose, thyme, lily, apple mint and marjoram.

Great experience, great value . You can save money if you pre-book online. We spent the morning here, but you could spend longer if you wanted. Spectacular views were offered from the top of Mount Calamorro. The cable cars had audio description on the ride to and from the Mount, well worth a visit and would definitely recommend.

I visited here today and was so glad I did. I arrived at 10.50am 10 minutes before the official opening hour of 11am and they let the people queueing get their tickets early but the cable cars didn't start running until 11am. It was a smooth run up to the top and what great views you get on the way up I was just glad it wasn't very windy. At the top you can walk further up to even more better views and being 62 years young I managed it with only being out of a bit of breadth but I am a fast walker most the time. I made sure I came back down to where the cable cars had dropped me off to go and watch the bird show which is 5 euro and is well worth it, it was Tremain reason I went up the cable cars in the first place so I wasn't going to miss it. There are 2 shows daily at 12.30pm and 2.30pm which last about 35 mins , the best place to sit i probably on the front row in the middle benches you are then involved with most of the birds in the show. After the main show you are then invited to pay 2 euro more to have your photo taken with 1 of 3 of the birds all the money goes to keep and maintain the birds so well worth it. I then made my way back down in the cable car which was more windy but still fine. You can stay up there after the show and go up different walkways on the top but my enjoyment was done. There is a gift shop and a cafe with toilets inside the cafe by where the cable cars drop off and on. All in all for the 17.95 euros the price for an adult (there are cheaper prices for over 65s and children) and the 5 euros for the bird show it was well worth the couple of hours I spent up there.

Good experience if your not scared of heights, takes about 15mins going up and the same going down. There is a bird of prey sanctuary which does 2 shows a day at the cost of €5 cash. You can also walk the steep uneven steps to the top for more further fantastic views of the Costa Del Sol. There's a cafe to grab a bite to eat and drink and WC facilities

Great ride to the top, some lovely views from the cable cars themselves with running commentary whilst on the cars about things around you. Once at the top lots to see and walks around. Cafe, toilets, and a bird show at an extra cost of 5 Euros, which we missed as we went up late in the day. we only spent an hour just a quick look around but do thing if you did the bird show and a good walk then you could easily pass a good few hours up there. I considered it well worth the cost and would do it again but earlier in the day to make the most of it.

First time in a cable car so a bit terrifying to start with. !5 minute ride to the top where there are the usual stalls selling souvenirs and refreshments. The views from the top were great, but for me the main attraction was the raptor display (twice daily) for an extra €5.00. This alone made the cost of the cable car ride worth while. The ride in the cable car gave views over housing developments and the sadly closed Tivoli fun park, the latter being in the hands of administrators who will likely sell it for residential development.

We went up at 12 ish, got to the top at 12:15 and that day there was a falcon show at half 12. The ride to the top was a bit scary but that’s because of the heights haha. On the way down was perfectly fine.
The falcon show - the top of the mountain has a bird sanctuary for birds of prey and owls. Honestly go see it! They have baby owls, eagle owls, a condor and more. Was so great and they spoke in Spanish and English. Make sure to bring 5 euro in cash each to watch the show

Disappointing trip. 15 min cable car journey up for €17 ( once you have managed to find it as poorly signposted - it’s hiding behind the train station) . Views spectacular from the top and a short 10 min hike ( uneven and steep path so wear sturdy shoes) takes you up to the top of the mountain. But other than that very little to do or see - there is a cafe, the falconry show only on twice a day - last one at 1.30 ( so we missed by going up in the afternoon) and a further €5 . Poor info about the area, closed and falling down buildings and a general lack of up keep. Sad to see especially since the cable car takes you over Tivoli World which is closed and abandoned. If you feel that the view is worth€17 then go for it.

Very steep cable car up but nice town to explore at the base and when you get to the top you can see a great view of the coast and an even better one if you walk up the steep path to the top (10 mins if you are fit). Everyone was doing it so not hard. There is a cafe and a loo. Well worth it I think.

Great day out, views are amazing from the cable car, if you are fit, the walk up to the top of the mountain has stunning views over to Africa and Gibraltar.
Cafe is reasonably priced, food was tasty.
Falconry experience - additional fee - was good, get to see birds of prey up close.

Old and tired cable cars that swing in the wind and whistle like a hurricane but great views, stopped twice on the journey which is disconcerting!

Hi there does anyone know if the cable cars are open mid January? I’ll be on holiday 16-20th of January and would love to take the children. I would appreciate any help thank you x

As per information I found on Internet they are closing on 9th of January and reopening again mid of Feb for the new season. But I would recommend to double check directly with Banalmadena Cable car operator-the email address can be found on their website.

Is het ook mogelijk voor mindervaliden om de kabelbaan te gebruiken? Bijvoorbeeld als men in een rolstoel zit. Alvast bedankt.

We are visiting beginning of April. I am scared of heights but my husband would love to see the birds of prey so I'm considering doing this. The cable car terrifies me it's not so much the height but wondered does it move around a lot as this would freak me out.

I hate heights too but I have to say it’s the best way to travel to there and the views were spectacular. I sat very still the whole time and cling to the seat but actually was quite a smooth ride. Wasn’t keen on going over the supports but I was ok.
We made sure it was a very calm day no wind at all.
You can walk up instead if you prefer but I really really don’t like heights and found it ok.
Once there you’ll love the falconry display. It was one of my best days out.
Hope you enjoy it. J
