Leagues Ahead Diving in Playa Del Ingles is a premier scuba diving center and is the ‘go to place’ for all Scuba Diving and Snorkelling excursions in Gran Canaria. We are a new scuba diving center in the sunny South of Gran Canaria that combines outstanding customer service, exceptional safety regulations, and a fun and relaxed atmosphere to ensure your underwater adventures are unforgettable. Our dive center is owned and managed by young, interpersonal and dedicated PADI scuba diving instructors who conduct one on one training and carry out qualified dives in small and practical groups in the crystal clear waters of Gran Canaria. We cater for every diver from beginner to a professional level and adapt the dive to suit your needs! Now why am I not surprised about the 5 star reviews. We couldn't have asked for a better experience. James and Sophie are in total control, professional, have the right balance of just about everything and nothing to prove. I was a nervous first timer, struggled to stay stable in the slightly murky water (can't do anything about the weather) but it was by far the best experience of anything I've had even since parachuting a few decades ago. After a relaxed and friendly hotel pick up and wet suit fitting, just the right pace of instruction and briefing, we went 'down' to around 10 metres in Emil's very capable hands and guess what, saw some fish 'n stuff. Could have been hundred metres for all I knew or cared and not once was I in any amount of concern over my son being with me, also a first timer, and him potentially being in any danger whatsoever. The team all clearly love what they do and this shines through. I'm sure other places are just as good but I'd have no reason to try anywhere else. No I'm not on commission - I just appreciate good service and hard workers who enjoy what they do and don't have an ego to get in the way of sharing that with others. Respect to all the team and hope to see them again.

Amazing experience. We had Emil as our guide and he was absolutely brilliant. It was our first time diving and he really was patient and taught us the right techniques and skills to relax. Amazing organization and impeccable service. A great thanks to Sophie, she is brilliant.

We had a fantastic morning with Emil and Ben. My partner has had a bad experience scuba diving before, but the guys were so calm and explained everything clearly so he felt confident throughout. The bay we dived is was beautiful, and we saw lots of different fish which was great! The booking experience over WhatsApp was super easy and everyone on the team was friendly. Would recommend!

My son who is 13 just completed his PADI Open Water course with Leagues Ahead and they couldn't have been more professional. Staff were amazing with him and communication was great. We pre-booked the course and had checked out other companies but found Leagues Ahead the most professional and couldn't have asked for a better experience. Would def recommend.

Great friendly place. Looked at 3 dive centre's and this looked the best.
Picked me up from hotel at 08.10 and then made me coffie of to dive site x2 dives then drop back to hotel, they do all the washing etc.
After 104 dives this one of the easy dive centers I've been to. Thanks to all staff xxxxx

Went to El cabron this October (2023) as a newly qualified open water diver with leagues ahead and it was amazing. Sophie had previously gather all equipment needed for this dive prior to arriving so every thing was ready to go which was good . El Cabron wasn’t far from the dive shop so didn’t take long in the van. It was very pretty as it is a marine reserve holding lots of fish and marine life. We had Paulo and Emil as our instructors both are very helpful , friendly and happy to be working with you. Before our dive in the briefing paulo and Emil went over all our signal and emergency procedures in case any thing was to happen. They were also on hand to help with kit if needed. Both instructors help with fins, mask and entering the water. They were over all very helpful. On this dive we saw an angle shark (which I was told is quite lucky at this time of year) , lost or octopus , cuttle fish , eels , arrow crabs , sea enemies, and a star fish and hundreds of schools of fish. All were great sites . The site was overall amazing and with cool rock structures and arches to swim through. The staff were also amazing. Would highly recommend and will definitely be returning to leagues ahead diving.

A very helpful and friendly team. Welcome you as soon as you arrive at dive shop, offer you coffee , water etc. Help with all equipment and make sure to go over any thing you have missed and make sure you feel safe and comfortable before and during your dive, always checking up on you during your dive. Very pleasant to be with and had an amazing experience would 100% recommend best dive shop yet and have good equipment and a wide range of experience between the team. I had viva she was a great instructor teaching me all the skills needed. James was also amazing and sophie in the shop helping with paper work etc. Over all great time

We had the best snorkeling experience with Leagues Ahead Diving! As a family of 4 with two 11 year olds it was so convenient with pick up at the hotel we were taken to the dive centre for a short visit to try on wet suits and sign paperwork etc! Must have burned 1000 calories just getting into and out off the wetsuits lol! Phew!
Paulo then took us to a beach renowned for snorkeling and diving.
A short briefing from the car park area showing us where we were going to snorkel and rhe types of fish we would see and it was back into the wetsuits and a walk to the beach.
It was sandy beach and a gentle walk into the sea. Paulo showed how to put on mask and snorkel and importantly, how to clear water from the mask and snorkel. Then flippers on and we were off!
Wow, just wow! We saw loads of different fish 🐟 all sizes and colours! Paulo would also free dive beneath us and point out those more camouflaged that were hiding in the rocks and sand. However, the highlight has to be that we saw a beautiful sting ray - wow - it was awesome! Paulo said it was probably the second largest he's seen here. The children thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience - they having never snorkelled before and both said they would love to do it again. We would certainly recommend Leagues Ahead Diving for anyone who wants to try snorkeling.

I have dived on three separate holidays with Leagues Ahead, the last time was September 2023.
I found them to be very professional, especially Sophie in the dive centre. When I arrived recently for my dive all the kit was ready for me as they had my details from previous visits. It made life easy for me.
At the dive site; Rinco Verde, the group of five divers, I was in, were all given very clear briefing. For the first dive there was a dive leader and an additional following diver overseeing the group. The second dive had an extra overseeing diver.
At all times I felt confident being underwater, leading to a safe and enjoyable two dives.
I would particularly mention the dive leader; Emil and my Leagues Ahead dive buddies Viva and Ben.
My dives in previous years was Paulo, who is very knowledgeable on marine life. On this occasion he led a different group.

The team is really friendly and helpful, they picked us up at our Hotel and after picking up our equipment we went to Tufia. Lots of sea life and we even saw an Angel Shark. Our guide Ben took us on two great dives. We would definitely recommend it.

Hi. We're thinking of trying scuba diving although my wife has never done it before I have got some experience from years ago do we have to book before we arrive on the island or can we do it whilst there?

Hello Ata, Congratulations on completing your Open Water course! I am thrilled you enjoyed your experience and it was so great to see you progress to such an awesome diver!
We do complete diving tours. As you are now a qualified diver, it is 80 euros for two dives. We would collect you from your hotel at 9:30am and drop you back at approximately 2:30 pm.
Included in the price is full CRESSI equipment, snacks and refreshments, complimentary hotel transfers and a fully qualified PADI instructor.

Can you tell me what the difference is between snorkling and scuba diving? just that my husband said about going snorkling and I'm looking at maybe scuba diving instead if it is better. The other problem though is my husband is asthmatic, although he hasn't had to use any inhalers for quiet sometime now apart from when he had a really bad cold. I on the other hand, had a heart attack back in 2005 but on meds ever since, I am also diagnoses with Fibro & slight hip dysplacia, would any of these be a problem for me to be able to scuba dive? Also, how much is it for snorkling as I'm only seeing price for scuba diving. Thank you and hopefully get to meet between 14th & 24th June :) this will also be our 8th wedding anniversary on 18th and the honeymoon we never got along with my husband's first ever holiday abroad from Northern Ireland :) but my 2nd time since 2001/2002 in Playa Del Ingles :)

Something such as a heart attack will require a medical from the doctor who will say if you are medically fit to dive, there are complications with asthma and heart conditions. I can email you the medical form if you wish to take to your doctor, or we have a doctor available in Gran Canaria.
