Lived in San Angelo for nearly 30 years (been gone now for a year), but this is one of the places we would always take visitors. Many of the Buffalo Soldiers called this place home. At one time Robert E. Lee was commanding officer. The telephone museum located in an "officer row home" is intriguing. They have various programs during... More

Well organized and presented. Presentations were well thought out and a lot of information could be found at each location. Phone museum was also good.

Wonderful place to see and learn about our heritage. Still being restored. Christmas at the Fort is the first weekend in December and is quite fun. Lots of activity for everyone.

History buffs will like this place. Located along the Concho River many of the buildings are open to the public. Buffalo Soldiers ruled here and aided in the Indian wars of the west.

Not the best fort I've visited, but certainly well worth the small charge to visit. Buildings are restored nicely and there is a small museum. We took a ghost tour and had a very knowledgeable docent in period dress.

This is a very interesting place to visit. The curators do very good at keeping this place up and giving a lecture about it's history.

Fort Concho is a wonderful place full of history. I've been visiting the fort my whole life, and it never gets old. This is a very popular place for get-togethers, weddings/receptions, and other events and is one of the most visited places in San Angelo. Go during the re-enactments! It's more than worth it.

I would recommend this for families. It does require a bit of walking but as long as you take your time it doesn't seem bad. You can visit two buildings for free but I would opt to pay and see the buildings that are open. It could hold a little more history but they have it set up very well.... More
