We toured this unique cavern. Fantastic formations. We camped in the campground. Water, electricity and a bath house. Deer, armadillo and peacock all around. Our dog loved the area. It's about 5 miles off I-10. Well worth the stop anytime of year.

Amazing place to see. I took the guided tour with only two others and still had a great experience. Obviously a must see when you're near Sonora. Even the animals outside to the caverns are enjoyable. Just drive carefully.

These caverns are the best i've ever seen. The guided tour is very interesting thanks to motivated guides. The shop nearby is also nice. Recommended!

My partner and I traveled to The Caverns of Sonora during a road trip to Austin, Tx. We had just traveled over 10 hrs on the I10 to arrive at the caverns after dark. We were greeted by very nice residents of the property, and felt welcomed. We planned on camping at the campsite in the back of our truck.... More

This cave has so many beautiful formations, and the tour we took was very informative and lasted around 1 1/2 hours. We definitely recommend visiting this cavern.

This was the only cave in Texas I had not visited. After the tour I have no doubt that I saved the best for last! Rita was an excellent tour guide.

If you like caves, you will probably LOVE this one. It is a long tour and it takes a while till the tour gets to the really neat parts. (I was almost regretting having to wait an hour for a tour.) Lots of cave coral on stalactites and stalagmites. Very unusual formations of helectites (growing at unusual angles). Be aware... More

The Sonora Caverns are one of the most beautiful in Texas when it comes to natural formations. I am very fond of these caverns as they were the first caverns I ever visited in Texas, or for that matter anywhere else. The tour is comprehensive and fun, however this is a warm and humid cavern so hydrating prior to touring... More

We arrived at the caverns in the morning and we were the first tour going in that day (9:45). The tour usually takes abour 1 hour 45 min but ours was more than 2 hours. Our tour guide -Rita- was simply brilliant, telling us a lot about the cave's formation, history and a lot about herself and living in a... More

Be prepared it's very humid and drink lots of water before entering the cave as they don't allow beverages inside the cavern. But it's definitely worth checking out if you happen to be in the area.
