The free trail starts next to the convention center near the whaling wall (also worth seeing). You can travel along its boardwalk and see various birds; lizards; fish and if your lucky even an alligator all in their natural setting and habitat. (I must admit that we did see more on the birding and nature center walkways that at times... More

Life goes by so fast, we spend most of our lives working and not thinking to much about nature. Well this place makes you appreciate what God has put on this earth to enjoy. Coastal birds are so gorgeous, and we saw hundreds of them.

After our conference was over, we took a walk through this area. It was very beautiful. Our walk was in the afternoon, it was very beautiful to be able to look out over the bay and enjoy the view.

We totally enjoyed the Laguna Madre Nature Trail. It's free but hard to find because it's behind the convention center. We saw plenty of birds and even an alligator.

We absolutely enjoyed this trail...The Wyland Wall was gorgeously painted, we saw numerous birds, strange looking lizards and some many different plants, trees and flowers..and at the end it was completely peaceful out in the bird blind to just watch the fish in the water.

We enjoyed the walk here. We saw alot of birds that are common in the area. Some of the paths run parallel to ones from the birding center which is next door. This is free; the birding center is not.

This is right next to the Birding Center and is free for visitos, which also means that it is not well maintained. Fewer bird blinds and more overgrown marsh plants mean there are less opportunities for viewing. But you can choose to go early morning or late evening, increasing your chances for viewing birds.

Nice hide-away on the busy, noisy island. This is a free attraction and is suitable for all ages. You don't have to be an "old coot" to enjoy the wildlife here. Two trails are available: one heads out into the bay, the other into the grassy marsh. On this visit, we saw the usual inhabitants plus one slightly rare visitor,... More

This is the trail that runs next to the World Birding Center's boardwalk (and free). It is a wonderful place to have close encounters with a variety of bird species. Depending on the water level, you can also see turtles and fish. This place was a highlight of our visit here in 2005 and it did not disappoint us this... More
