Built in 1885, this Italianate Victorian home is uniquely designed in the shape of a club because (as legend has it) money to build the house was from the winnings of a poker game with a lucky draw of the ace of clubs. Filled with original furnishings dating from the 1720s to the 1940s from the last occupants of the house, it is regarded as one of the best attractions in the country. "You rarely see a house that is so perfect in every detail and spans the years of a family having the house for 100 years." --Bob Vila, star of TV's hit "Home Again" and "America's Guide to Historic Homes" "The Ace of Clubs House is a real Texarkana treasure." --Stuart Whitehurst, of PBS' hit series "Antiques Roadshow"

This was a very interesting place to visit. It is an old house in need of restoration, but, nevertheless, very interesting. Besides the shoes, the black and gold moldings were very different. A video gives you an introduction to the house. Well worth a visit.

The Ace of Clubs House is an experience of walking back in time to a simpler life in early 20th Century Texarkana (east Texas). The video history is interesting and complete, making the tour much more full and gives the tourist things to look for and enjoy. The docents have always been helpful and able to answer most questions. The... More

Texarkana is unique city sitting between 2 states and coming to from the 3rd one (Louisiana). You are planning to visit the city and historical houses? Good luck on that! Ace of Club House hours were from 10 AM to 4 PM, we call in advance and visit it on Saturday morning at 11 AM - closed and locked well.... More

The exterior of the house is the best part. Once inside, there are some period antiques that are quite lovely, but I was disappointed by the amount of "this is similar to what would have been here," items. The stories about the house are fascinating but the interior of the house does not match the exterior (or the stories) for... More

I had heard of this house and have always wanted to visit. I finally got the chance and was not disappointed. The way the rooms were arranged to fit the design took a great deal of planning. If you are going to be in the area, I urge you to visit.

We went on the tour here. It's such a neat place to check out! It was such a treat to see all of the original items in the rooms. I was amazed at all the rooms inside. The shoe collection was unreal! Just when you thought you were finished, the guide kept showing us around. Not sure if it was... More

I loved the docent - so British, so informed on the property. To raise money for the upkeep of this beautiful home, maybe a holiday open-house or charity reception could be hosted?

This is a really neat-looking building. They were closed the day I was there. You definitely want to call and confirm the hours and tour times. I am looking forward to seeing the inside.

We caught the 3:30 pm tour on a Sunday afternoon in the summer. The charge was only $1.00 per person. The house did have a few window air conditioners, but overall it was very hot. The tour commences with a 17 minute video on an old TV in a hot room. You have to be able to climb the stairs... More

We are so glad that you were able to take advantage of our 4th of July Weekend Specials and tour for just $1 per person and that your overall visit was good. I do want to make sure to point out that the home does have a working elevator for those who are not able to climb the stairs. We... More
