Built in 1936 the Liberty theater was the place to be on the downtown square in Tyler, TX. It was the hub of entertainment until it closed in the mid 1980s.

The City of Tyler purchased the Liberty in 2009 and rehabbed the facility. The City raised more that one million dollars in private donations to fund this stunning renovation. Our goal is to spur the revitalization of Tyler's historical downtown into an arts and entertainment district.

Liberty Hall reopened in September of 2011 as a community performing arts hall that hosts classic movies, comedy, music and theater. The Hall is also available for rent to the public for events.

The Liberty is once again a cornerstone of entertainment for downtown Tyler. Since our opening we have hosted such performers as: Suzy Bogguss, Asleep at the Wheel, Gary P. Nunn, Bob Schneider and Ray Wylie Hubbard. We also have live comedy shows almost monthly.

I'm new to Tyler and wanted something different to do..... Decided to go to a 1980's John Hughes movie. The theater is beautiful Art Deco and clean and comfortable. The movie was funny and the crowd was appreciative. I ended up going back the next week for another movie. Now I find myself checking their event calendar to make sure... More

My wife and I love going here to watch the old Christmas movies on the big screen. It's become a tradition that we look forward to. The place is very beautiful and the staff is super friendly. There are a few nice restaurants close by as well.

The Liberty features live musical groups, plays and old movies. Located on the square in downtown Tyler. Ample parking on the street or in the new City parking garage around the corner (on Broadway). Several restaurants on the square conveniently located.

I have attended numerous concerts here and it's always nice. I saw "Elvis" a few years ago and then some local events. I remember when this was a popular movie theatre and going there now brings back lots of memories. I love the way they have remodeled!

I've been to Liberty Hall several times for different shows. It's always a very nice place to go - my favorite is the seasonal movies they offer. The used to book really great concerts but now it's more film festivals and comedy club type stuff. Wish they'd bring back the concerts.

The old theater has been totally renovated and is a beautiful example of art deco. Not sure on seating but maybe 150 or so. Every seat is good and the sound is perfect. Saw Guy Clark there about 4 rows back and we all had conversation with him. He said it was one of the best acoustic venues he had... More

Have spent a many a date nights here. Friendly, always smiling helpful staff and volunteers. They even rent the place out for events and weddings. Should you get a chance to take in a show or movie here, go for it, complimentary beer and wine accompany some events. A Tyler jewel, and in a great location in the heart of... More

We went to the East Texas Comedy Festival here and it was fantastic! The theater is well maintained and the event was highly entertaining. They have events and they show movies throughout the year so we will definitely be back. We weren't sure what to expect but we were not disappointed.
