We were probably lucky that the weather was not optimal, because there could not have been more than 10-15 people in the zoo. You can get up very close to the animals, but watch out for the unhappy tiger.

The zoo is small, but they are now focusing on local wildlife and get much of their residents from rehab places (Animals that cannot be released). Animals are well taken care of and seem relaxed. Great venomous, native snake collection. Who knew there so many venomous snakes in Texas?

Our family truly enjoyed the visit to this zoo. It was smaller than we expected but that turned out to be quite nice. Aside from the strong animal smell, it was very clean and well kept. It wasn't crowded and we even had the opportunity to ask the staff questions about the different animals onsite. They were all very knowledgeable... More

My family and I went to this zoo yesterday to see what it was like, and from the moment we pulled up it was disappointing. The zoo is very small and everything, from the front entrance to the animal exhibits seemed old and worn out. We won't be going back again.

Loved the peacocks and their babies walking around...but picked up a peacock feather and was charged a $1 for it? Are you kidding me? :/

When we went to it we had fun and it was great to see all the animals. It is a park that you can go have a picnic at.

Paid too much for like 20 animals. There was like 5 animals that weren't in there cages either. Save your money and visit a real zoo. Houston, San Antonio or Brownsville.

It is a nice place to take kiddos for a couple hours. Definitely not an entire day activity but they are always updating and adding things throughout the years. I love taking my nieces and nephews for afternoon fun.

We have been to The Texas Zoo many times and always bring visitors here. It is on the small side but this is one of the things we like about it. You can get up close with many of the animals and the animals seem to be much more active than at large, crowded zoos. There are peacocks wandering freely... More

Great small zoo. Excellent exhibits & programs for kids. There are daily talks, shows & feelings for kids & family's to do.
