The hook-up sites were full, but the tent sites were fairly empty. This may have helped keep it quiet. We were in site 6, which had easy bathroom access without being the pathway for everyone else. There is a lawn next to the bathrooms, with bunnies everywhere. Bathrooms were clean. Showers were more warm than hot, but the stalls were... More

My main reason for visiting Kodachrome was the 67 'sand pipes' or 'sprires' which are unique to this park. These are very interesting for the geologist and photographer and are easily accessed from numerous trails around the park. My favourite was Ballerina Spire on the Panorama Trail where there were quite a few flowers still in bloom. We walked part... More

Hidden amidst a series of beautiful but busy national parks, this state park is a bit off the beaten track but well worth the trip. It is not far from Bryce Canyon National Park and is hosted by friendly rangers who are quite knowledgeable about the surrounding sites. A beautiful park, with truly photogenic scenery, this park should be part... More

If you are sightseeing Southern Utah you would probably be hitting the major National Parks, Bryce, Zion, Capitol Reef etc. Those are mobbed by fellow tourists, so small State Parks nearby though not as well known could offer incredibly quiet and peaceful alternatives. We stayed at Kodachrome for only 5 hours and wished for more. A full day plus camping... More

Not far from Bryce at all. A less known Canyon but very interesting in terms of its geology and well worth a visit. Allow a long morning to do one of the longer trails. Well signed trails with good paths and ever changing landscapes. We spent 3-4 hours and then drove out to Devil's Garden, Escalante, via Powell Point Viewpoint... More

Kodachrome State Park is east of Bryce National Park and just a bit off the beaten track. It is a small park and the main attraction is that you can experience a sample of the colored rocks and also some of the typical formations of the other larger parks in the area, without all the crowds. We visited in mid... More

Although very beautiful it is about 20 miles from Bryce Canyon and is fairly isolated . If you want to get away from it all, no phone service etc. this is the campground for you. The park offers hook ups. Lots of hiking nearby . We did find horseback riding but that was really it. Again nice quiet campground but... More

Impressed as we have been by the big well known parks this was just such a wonderful contrast . So peaceful , so uncrowded and yet so amazing. Why is it not more appreciated? I suppose it's because of its larger better known neighbours Bryce Canyon Zion and Capital Reef . We did the 6 mile Panorama Trail and it... More

We have camped at this park several times and enjoy each stay more than the last. The camp sites are wonderful (except there is not a lot of shade) with full hook ups. There is a very nice interpretive nature trail and separate picnic areas. The hiking trails are pretty good and take you to some interesting features. There are... More
