My group of 7 Canadian women skied at Powder Mountain for 5 days at the end of March. We love Powder Mountain, no line ups ever and fantastic groomed runs, but this ski trip went from great to wonderful because of the hosts that skied with us. Andy, Dan, Hank and Doug. Andy was amazing He organized our week there and guided us to the best hills and fantastic conditions. More than just hosts this group of hosts have become our friends, we look forward to skiing with them and to hear the stories of their lives over the past year between ski trips. Another perk was that Andy brought his web cam and videotaped us so we were able to post for all our friends on Facebook. Powder Mountain is a hidden treasure. Rustic but that is part of its charm.

The was our first trip to Pow Mow and we will absolutely be going back. It’s not a high end “someone puts your boots on for you” type of place so if that is what you want, head to Deer Valley. Pow Mow is low key, friendly, free mountain tours, great little lunch spot, amazing open runs, not crowded and non pretentious. And they have a nice little ski school for the kids where they don’t just keep them on a bunny slope, but really get them out on the bigger runs to teach them. I’d highly recommend this mountain if you are into skiing/boarding, affordable prices and no egos.

My first visit to Powder Mountain was less than stellar. The buildings are in serious need of updating, with emphasis on the bathrooms. One of the toilets was overflowing in the bathroom. The lifts are dated and slow. The distance between the chair and snow on one of the lifts was way too low, because when I sat down, the chair pinched the skin on both of my calves on top of my boots. I was bruised all the way across both calves. The groomers were poorly groomed. There was a ridge where the groomer had made passes and it was a few inches high. This can cause a pretty nasty crash. We got used to watching out for these and still had fun. I ordered a cheeseburger for lunch and I'm pretty sure the guy taking order was completely stoned, because after ordering he asked me if I wanted cheese on my cheeseburger. I liked the food at both lodges and the old bar was great. Where is the management???

After over 30 years no more . We are from the northeast and always found it interesting that we never met someone from Utah that skied here . It is an hour and a half from the airport in the middle of nowhere . New owners co bought it a few years ago and had a fantasy of turning it into some international destination .sold plots for over a million dollars and it never took off . Another owner just took it over and is in fantasy land . This time the new area called Mary’s will be exclusive to those who buy property on the mtn. A reason we liked to ski there . To make it worse we paid over $200 on a weekday as a senior . We paid less than half that at Brighton which is a shirt drive from Salt Lake City , has nice mountain restaurants and never a liftline more than 2 minutes . We skied park city on our epic pass for free and the mountain is awesome also with short lifelines . Yesterday there was a snow event at powder and driving an suv the road was a disaster . We spun into one if their parking lots and got stuck . Four other cars had the same experience as it wasn’t plowed. After over two hours , grabbing shovels left outside by workers we got out and left . I asked if they would refund us and they quoted their refund policy . Their lack of plowing caused us to get stuck . Offering a credit was useless as we are leaving today . So it cost us $200 each for three people for aggravation . Bottom line after over 30 years we will never return. Powder mtn is for locals and I expect the new owner to be as successful as the last . It will getting .

Skied Powder Mountain for the second year both the first week of February. The terrain is vast, boundless choices of tree, trail and bowl skiing. Epic powder for most of my trip with more than knee deep powder. Groomed runs perfect but the trees and off the trails is why one goes to PM. Having skied Vail, Aspen, Breckinridge and many Utah mountains and the snow and the conditions are far superior at PM. The biggest drawback of PM is that there is absolutely NO nightlife, no restaurants or shops on the mountain. This is a skiers mountain but do not expect doing anything but stay in your condo and cooking. Skiing is so good, it’s worth it but my wife won’t join me.

Powder Mountain has always been a family favourite and we have visited annually for 13 consecutive years.
This year the ticket prices rocketed to an eye-watering cost, and despite this, there weren’t enough staff so that queues for food and drink were unreasonably long, and the dustbins were overflowing. Disappointing to the point of disgust.

This was our 3rd year skiing at Powder Mountain. We were bummed to see the price increase ( $229 a day) just over $100 last year. The only real updates we could see were the bathrooms, all have been renovated. The lodges are the same and food is still priced fairly. You can get a little discount if you buy your pass the day before. Still only one fast lift ( Hidden Lake) the rest are slow. More homes being built at the Village lift. We had a lot of powder and enjoyed getting off the groomers and exploring. You need a lot of time to get to one lift to another. Parking is free and Apres at the Powder Keg is still a lot of fun, with great live music on the weekends. We love it here, but bummed about the price increase.

We wanted to take our kids to learn skiing during their Sping break. We were a little apprehensive about their safety on the ice because they were not used to snow. We did a lot of research and finally settled on Powder Mountain. It has one of the largest ski areas in the US. We communicated with Jill Bourne, the manager of Snow Sports School. Jill was extremely helpful and answered our numerous questions over many months. Anyone else probably would have gotten tired. But not Jill. Once we reached there, we realized that we made the right decision. Everything was highly organized (thanks again to Jill) and we did not have to wait in line for the lift. I saw Jill running around and taking care of every detail of the school. One can tell that Jill’s way of leading the school team worked. All the employees looked happy and eager to help. Jill also organized a private ski instructor, Jim, for us. Jim was an excellent instructor. We were lucky to have him for both days of private instructions. He was caring and paid attention to safety and yet, taught them to ski downhill quite efficiently. Our kids liked skiing and liked Jim’s instruction style. They want to go back there again. Jill and her team and the instructors such as Jim make this place awesome. Thank you everyone at Snow Sports School.

After a few days at the other resorts (Brighton, Snowbird, Snow Basin) we wanted to try something different that none of us had been to before so we headed to Powder Mtn. and what a day we had! The weather was perfect though the snow was a bit crusty so we stayed mostly on the groomers which were in abundance and well maintained. The terrain is so open and varied, so many places to explore with few people to share it with. No lift lines, many runs without seeing anybody else but my buddies who all had grins on their faces. What a fantastic day, makes me smile thinking about it. We will definitely be back next year!
