Not sure that we were right in the state park, but the Peekaboo trailhead is right by the park and is awesome for ATV dune buggy and a hike through peekaboo canyon.

There is a short explanatory walk that provides information on how sand dunes accumulate. For those interested you can go out in the dunes and climb around on them. Sliding down the dunes seemed to be a favorite for children.

The Coral Pink Sand Dunes are a nice place to walk. Some dunes are steep on one side. Be aware of possible snakes (I haven't encountered any myself, but I saw a bunch of egg shells). It's a great opportunity for picture taking before sunset!

This was our first experience at this place. Very cool! However, make sure you come prepared. Bring LOTS of water! It is really a hike out there from the platform if you plan to go see the sand views. Also, I recommend bringing flip flops...More

Really pretty, small park. Nicely done. The dunes were formed by sand blowing from two mountain ranges, both of which you can easily see. The vermillion cliffs make a stunning backdrop for the dunes.

This little gem of a park has some pretty cool sand dunes that, although much smaller, remind me of Namibia. Worth a visit if you're in the area. Obviously gets a lot of off-road action based on the tire tracks.

If you have never seen Sand Dunes this is the place to stop. It was impressive but unless you enjoy climbing sand dunes hour after hour in the boiling sun don't plan on an extensive stay. Once you climb to the top of one dune...More

Unless you ride on sled discs or dune buggies/ATVs on the dunes, don't bother to stop here. There is literally nothing there but a big sand dune and you see sand dunes on the road before you get to the park. There are a few...More

We came in from 89 on 43 and then back on Hancock Rod. They were all paved (if narrow) not sure about 43 the other way. Maybe call the park office and ask them? (435) 648-2800
