I drove through Red Canyon on my way to and from Bryce and the area was quite beautiful. It gives you a nice preview of spectacular scenes to come. However, it sounds like it is an area worth exploring itself with several easy and scenic trails right near the visitor center off the main road.

We hiked on the Pink Ledges Trail and it was a highlight of our trip to Zion and Bryce Canyon. The hike is short and relatively easy, a bit steep in parts but the views are phenomenal. I would imagine the other trails at Red Canyon are the same or perhaps even more spectacular but we were a bit limited in time. Don't miss this stop!

It was very quiet when we got there and the place is obvious, slow down signs and lots of stalls. I had my photo taken in the middle of the road as did others ,including a mother and child placed there by photographer husband. Happily there were few cars. The views of the valley are spectacular from this vantage point.! Well worth a stop . The filmmakers knew what they were doing. Must say that was one place among our many photos our children and grandchildren instantly recognised!

We visited Red Canyon on our recent visit to Tropic, Utah. Red Canyon is just outside of Panguitch, Utah, and only a few minutes from Bryce Canyon City on highway 12. It is part of the Dixie National Forest. It is a great collection of hoodoos and other rock formations. There is a nice visitor center and the area is run by the National Forest Service. We hiked the Pink Ledges Trail and the Hoodoo Loop Trail. We really enjoyed our hike. We went in the evening and ended the hike right around sunset. The lighting playing on the red rocks was very beautiful. We had the trail to ourselves and it was peaceful and quiet. The hikes were not difficult and especially the Pink Ledges hike is accessible for most people with decent mobility. Red Canyon is a nice additional stop to add to a Bryce Canyon visit. I highly Recommend Red Canyon.
