This was a delightful surprise. With one extra day to kill in Salt Lake City we took a chance on Antelope Island. What an amazing way to spend a few hours. Bison, pronghorn and porcupines were out and easy to spot. The views are incredible both of the island and in the distance. It's an easy drive with a big... More

We were in SLC with a baby and this was a great way to take a drive on a cold wintry day. The bison came close to the car and a herd of antelope crossed the road in front of us. We also saw furry balls in the trees, which turned out to be porcupines. Did not have a good... More

We visited in early Jan 2017 in the hopes of spotting a bison. We had great success seeing around 100 bison including juveniles, a porcupine, 3 coyotes, a bald eagle, pronghorn antelope, deer, rabbits and a huge flock of ducks on the salt lake. The bison were very close to the road and even crossed right in front of our... More

You have to pay to get on the island. This is a beautiful place left as it should be. There are buffalo wondering around and so many birds. You can wonder or stay on the trails. More to see than I ever thought! So many photo ops. The sunset is beautiful with the water!!! Go, you won't be sorry.

Our family went to Antelope Island and spent a little over half a day there. It had snowed several days before and the roads were in good condition for driving, especially if you are not used to snow. We saw at least 40-50 bison, several rabbits scurrying through the scrub brush, several mule deer (don't let the name fool you,... More

We visited here on a family road trip on our way to Zion to check out the Great Salt Lake for a couple of hours. The positives are you can float like never before with no effort and you may see some animals like buffalo and sheep. The negatives are the sand is hot and rocky and the water leaves... More

Antelope Island is about an hour's drive north from downtown Salt Lake City and is the ideal spot to get an amazing panoramic view of the Great Salt Lake. The island is nearly 1400 feet above the lake at its highest elevation, but to reach that spot requires some semi-serious hiking. However, at the northwestern tip of the island, there... More

We saw many bison and waterbirds. The landscape was magnificent: mountain, lake, mist above water surface. We also saw a guy proposing and it looked like she said yes!

There is a strip of land they made to get you out to the island. There you will see plenty of bison, antelope and other wildlife, but do not approach them! It is a huge island but you don't need to see it all to see the animals.
