Amazing monuments!

There are some truly amazing monuments here that are wonderful examples of the Vermont granite industry. Definitely worth a visit.

We have visited many cemeteries and enjoy the stories that we find. Hope Cemetery contains the largest collection of amazing and unique monuments that we have ever seen. Many tell a story of the life of the person or couple. The craftsmanship displayed in the stones is beautiful and often elegant. The variety of monuments in the beautiful setting provides... More

My 9 year olds enjoyed touring this cemetery to see the unusual granite headstones. Look for the automobile, soccer ball, and others. It was raining so we toured from the car. A short drive from Rock of Ages. A short tour. A worthwhile diversion.

We learned about this by chance and were fascinated with the history. We were told that the quarry men who worked in granite quarry knew they would die from white lung so they spent their after work hours carving their own headstones. They are very detailed and intricate and worth the time to see.

This cemetery has some wonderful examples of the workmanship of the people that work in the nearby sheds. Some very unusual art work for the deceased!

A great way to see the end product of the artists at Rock of Ages quarry and processing plant. Worth the time to see real works of art.

After visiting Rock of Ages quarry this is a must see destination. Besides the craftsmanship of the monuments you will see a cemetery filled with the most interesting memorials etched and carved into granite.

to be reviewing a cemetery. But what can I say? We enjoyed looking at the interesting headstones on a cool, sunny September morning. Lovely chat with an employee, too.

Another great stop for those who like quirky sites when traveling. This has to be one of the most unique cemeteries in the US. You have never seen more elaborately carved memorials than at this place. Given the local granite industry and history of Italian stone carvers it appears that everyone has tried to out do the others with their... More
