We were looking for a place to snow shoe on a beautiful sunny day in February. Decided to go the VINS center to see what they offered. Our visit was awesome. Not only did we enjoy a guided snow shoe tour in the woods, we also learned about different birds in the area and were treated to a raptor presentation... More

Make sure you check the schedule and time your visit to the educational programs, which are neat. Lots of birds of prey to see, and the educators offer some worthwhile visits with owls. Worth the admission price.

We drove 3 hours for a weekend getaway specifically for VINS nature center's Owl Festival. We had seen an ad on Facebook for it and since our daughter loves owls, thought it would be fun. There was not enough stuff to do for the amount of people who showed up, so that every mini event held was completely packed, standing... More

Nothing beats a great bird sighting! VINS is a spectacular experience for kids of all ages. There are wonderful programs daily allowing all of us to get a real "up close" look at raptors and owls, (and other creatures) as well as learn about them. The grounds are wonderful for walking, and, yes, you can rent snow shoes and try... More

I went here with a group of hiking friends. The staff was super friendly and knowledgeable! We had a wonderful day hiking around, viewing the amazing birds and learning some really interesting things about birds of prey. They do great work here helping injured birds and teaching others.

This is an absolutely thrilling experience. It is a sanctuary for raptors (hawks, falcons, owls and such) who could not survive in the wild and so are housed in huge flyable enclosures where you can look at them, and they will look at you up close and personal. They are magical and gorgeous. An expert gives several talks every day... More

They have a great talk and demo of birds outdoors. Interesting and informative. Kids love it. Also interesting to adults. There is a nice trail in the center that goes through the woods and edge of a lake. Overall number of exhibits in the center is limited.

We love birds of prey. My wife and I eyeball hawks that people drive right by with no notice. The chance to watch a volunteer feed a ferruginous hawk, snow owl, kestrel and other birds, who injured in some capacity rely on this sanctuary, was unique. By far, the highlight was watching a red shouldered hawk there for 19 years,... More
