Once you get to the top and navigate the trail the views of Vermont and Canada are amazing. Make sure to bring a camera and some water. The drive is on gravel for 95% of the time and as long as you go slow everything will be fine.

Automobile and driver is $22. $7 each additional passenger. Top of the summit is 4395 feet. They give you an audio CD with history on the road and mountain and they also give you a bumper sticker. Road to the top is 4.5 miles. The road is mostly gravel. The road is skinny, be careful when passing other vehicles. There... More

I am a 54 year old woman with a lot of anxiety, a fear of heights and I suffer from vertigo so measure yourself against me😊 Here are the facts: 1. The road is not scary at all but go right at opening time to reduce the amount of cars and hikers. It took us 30 minutes to get to... More

The girlfriend and I did an early trip to the Auto Toll Road on 8/22/16. We didn't really pick the best day to do it, the forecast was for cool weather and called for rain. Even from the base, we could see that the mountaintop was completely shrouded in the day's low cloud cover. Undaunted, we took the drive up... More

We hiked form the nose to the chin. It is labelled moderate- parts were easy & parts were challenging. Bring a snack for when you get to the chin. You'll need to recharge a bit. Wear comfortable shoes. It is a really nice hike. We did it on a clear sunny day and the views were incredible. Lots of fun.

The winding dirt road to the "visitor center" was a great way to start our hike along the ridgeline to the summit. We so enjoyed the awesome views both on the road and hike. Price was well worth it

Drive was a nice change of pace, low gear up and down and avoiding the ruts and dips in the road. People are genuinely nice about passing, Nice view at certain points - but like most mountains - the weather at the base and at the summit can be radically different. It was nice to see the clouds roll over... More

While I can understand the amount of traffic going up and down the mountain would cause the road to warrant repairs now and again, the amount paid per car AND additional passengers was quite absurd! After all, it IS a DIRT road, albeit very compacted so it doesn't really resemble what you might consider a "dirt" road. But there were... More

It was a great view and an awesome experience driving up and hiking to the peaks. However, the price is ridiculous. Let's just hope it's being used for wildlife conservation.

Yes they make you pay to drive on a road?? In my case $29.00 for 5 miles. .but it gets you to the top so you can hike the Mansfield summit. The hike has amazing views, being a flat lander from Fla. the hikes was a little difficult. Note Vermont locals underestimate how hard it is rock scrambles and steep.... More
