This is one of the best Air and Space museums in the world! The building is huge. It has two giant hangars with tons of planes and space things, from telescopes to the Discovery. It also has the rares Blackbird and Enola Gay, both very...More

This complex is well worth the drive out of the district and arguably the best aviation/space museum in the country. I've been to several including Boeing's museum of flight in Seattle, WA, the Strategic Air Command Museum near Omaha, NE and several smaller ones and...More

Very interesting for all ages. All types of airplanes, shuttle discovery, even star wars. Go by 4.00 pm and you don't have to pay $15 per car. They also have IMAX movies.

I had no idea how vast this collection of aircraft truly was. I just knew that one of the shuttles was there, so I took my dad when he came to visit. The 186 airplanes were beautifully arranged in this enormous space! Make sure to...More

A little effort is necessary to get there by public transport from Washington DC but it is well worth the effort. The place is bulging in historic displays and stories. Amazing tales of heroism and bravery. The only downside is that McDonalds is the only...More

I'm not sure how you would access this museum without taking private transportation, however I'm glad we made the trip out to Dulles. It is a worthwhile trip to make. The GIANT air hangars house some amazing pieces of Aeronautical history, The FULL SIZE Discovery...More

This is a wonderful museum to see, for kids and families. Must see if you are in the area. $15 to park, entrance is free, but only McD's to eat.

The museum is huge so, except for the McDonalds at lunchtime, it handles a crowd very well. It is packed full of planes and gliders and even a space shuttle, some sitting on the ground and some hanging in the air. Walkways are on three...More

I actually had no idea this place existed until a tour guide on a hop on hop off tour around DC mentioned it as we were driving past the air and space museum in DC. So the next stop, we hopped off, grabbed the car...More

I had been to the other Air and Space museum many times but had always wanted to check this one out. Wow, I am so glad that I did. So many household names are displayed here...the Enola Gay, the Space Shuttle Discovery, a Concorde, etc....More

It depends on a few things: 1. How important is it for you to see a space shuttle? The Hazy Center has the shuttle Discovery. 2. Where are you staying and do you have a car? If you're staying downtown with no car, then... More

you can get a bus from the end of the metro line that goes by Dulles and the museum on a loop. I can't recall the bus number but it's on the museum website under the "how to get here" tab (or whatever it's called).

I am catching a plane back to my country around midnight and would like to visit the museum that last day. Could I check out from mu hotel in DC and go to the museum with my luggage. Is there a place where I can check the luggage so that I can tour the museum (my kids are airplane fanatics)?

I'm not sure - it's on the grounds of Dulles Airport, but about a 3-mile drive from there to the "departure area."
