We visited Monticello in February. We were blessed with unseasonably warm and beautiful weather. We booked our tickets online ahead of time. This will save you some money, but you do have to pick your tour time ahead. We purchased the Monticello neighborhood pass which included Richie Tavern and Ash lawn Highland. I don't recommend this. We did not enjoy the... More

This was our first trip to Monticello. We enjoyed the house and gardens. We did the behind the scenes tour package, which was definitely worth it. The museum shop and onsite restaurant are excellent as well.

Great place to visit, interesting, well versed tour guides and a fascinating historical story. There's construction going on to restore various parts of the site, but it's not a problem. If you have time try hiking the Saunders Monticello trail nearby.

My husband and I were very pleased with the tour of Monticello, and the wonderful history, both in the house and at the visitor's center, was very interesting and presented well! Everything is very clean. A snack shop is available as well. We are looking forward to bringing our children back for a field trip soon. We hope to get... More

We visited with our dogs and couldn't take them on the house tour, but were plenty happy with walking the gardens and surrounding land. T was a beautiful day and we were happy we went.

This property is phenomenal. It has been very well preserved, and a lot of hard work has gone in to making sure the interior is historically accurate. Be sure to allow at least 3 hours to see everything. Walk the property, do the house tour, tour Mulberry Row, and walk to the cemetery. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes!

I thoroughly enjoyed my trip to Monticello. It takes about 2.5-3.5 hours to see the house and exhibits. The tour guide knew her material very well and took the right about of time (45 minutes). The views from the top of the mountain are spectacular. You can see UVA and Charlottesville in the distance. The tour is not cheap ($22/person),... More
