Despite major reconstruction, our tour was well done. Our dosun or guide provided more than a fleeting interest to share information. She showed an affinity for history of Jeffersons time.

It has been quite a while since I've been to Monticello, and I was quite pleased to see that it now interpreted as an entire plantation. The main house is still a museum to Jefferson and his accomplishments. But now they are interpreting the life of the enslaved population. So far there are two slave cabins have been reconstructed on... More

This was one of my favorite historical visits. The grounds are beautiful and the guides on this trip were phenomenal. We all learned so much and we ended off our visit in the children's education center where our kids could try out a polygraph machine, lie on Jefferson's bed, see how slaves made nails... I would totally recommend this trip... More

Spectacularly kept home and grounds. Our tour guide (Joseph) was interesting and well informed. Fwiw, Mt. Vernon > Monticello IMO if you're debating between visiting one or the other.

While visiting a friend in the area we visited Monticello and took a walking tour. The tour guide did a wonderful job. We also walked around the grounds. Very nice historical site. We only had a few hours so we weren't able to see the entire grounds. I would love to go back for a longer visit.

Monticello is the historic former home of Thomas Jefferson. You know, the author of the Declaration of Independence, third president of the United States, U.S. ambassador to France, United States Secretary of State, author of the Virginia Statute of Religious Freedom, founder of the nearby University of Virginia, source of the books that began the United States Library of Congress,... We visited Monticello in February. We were blessed with unseasonably warm and beautiful weather. We booked our tickets online ahead of time. This will save you some money, but you do have to pick your tour time ahead. We purchased the Monticello neighborhood pass which included Richie Tavern and Ash lawn Highland. I don't recommend this. We did not enjoy the... More

This was our first trip to Monticello. We enjoyed the house and gardens. We did the behind the scenes tour package, which was definitely worth it. The museum shop and onsite restaurant are excellent as well.

Great place to visit, interesting, well versed tour guides and a fascinating historical story. There's construction going on to restore various parts of the site, but it's not a problem. If you have time try hiking the Saunders Monticello trail nearby.

My husband and I were very pleased with the tour of Monticello, and the wonderful history, both in the house and at the visitor's center, was very interesting and presented well! Everything is very clean. A snack shop is available as well. We are looking forward to bringing our children back for a field trip soon. We hope to get... More
