My wife has long been a fan of Thomas Jefferson, so on a recent trip to the DC area, we made certain to include a visit to Monticello. It's about a 2 hour trip from DC - I imagined how long it used to take people in Jefferson's time - but a very pleasant drive through rural Virginia, passing by... More

My husband and I took the tour, it was very interesting. What a treasure this place is. Great for history buffs or anyone who is interested in history. Beautiful grounds. We walked to the family burial grounds and took the shuttle back.

Fantastic historical outing for families, couples, or an individual! This is a wonderful place to visit for insight into the life of an American founding father. Loved the octagon rooms, skylights, inventions used throughout the house. Beautiful grounds to explore. Well worth admission price, and they do offer active duty military discounts. Don't miss this historic site!

Very good experience but be prepared for 2.5 hour long walk with no breaks in the behind the scenes tour - this is the only way to see the whole house. the staircases are extremely narrow and tall stairs so be prepared for a bit of a fright coming down. Beautiful restoration of the house, very nice decorations throughout, with... More

We visited Monticello on a very warm fall day. There's so much to see before your tour starts so make sure to wear comfortable shoes and dress in layers to accommodate for rising temperatures or just getting hot from all of that walking! The house was lovely but no indoor pictures although you are able to bring in a drink... More

This UNESCO world heritage site introduced us to remarkable details about the gifted man we know as author of the Declaration of Independence, our third president, and founder of the University of Virginia. The film and tours were exceptional. We were impressed that they also provided a brutally accurate portrait of Thomas Jefferson as a slave owner. The slave tour... More

We took the tour of Monticello with a large group. It was a pleasure to visit, as we haven't been three in years. The tour covers the ground floor. Our tour guide, a former teacher, was great. We learned a lot about Jefferson and his place in time. I would have liked to see the other floors, as we have... More
