This is the best fried chicken I’ve EVER had!!! All you can eat, and tasty as it gets. It’s good old fashioned Virginia cookin’. The outbuildings are neat and have interesting things and relics for sale

We actually came for the history, not the food. A lot of steps up to the historic house. The costumed guide was excellent. As we toured the tavern and guest house she explained much about what travel accommodations were like. She was informative, fun and...More

A wonderful lunch at the Tavern. Casual, rustic and the BEST FRIED CHICKEN! Great traditional food next to a warm fire.

Family of four stopped for lunch. Kids (15 and 9) endothelial historic nature of the restaurant. Lunch is worth it for the stewed tomatoes alone! Food is far superior to typical lunchtime buffet. Highly recommend!

While visiting Jefferson's Monticello, it was suggested we visit the Mitchie Tavern. Unfortunately, we weren't impressed: The Tavern requires you to wait outside until you are called; you are then cattle-called onto the buffet line -- you can't even put your coat down until you...More

They have cole slaw. You must pay for the full meal even if you only eat the cole slaw. It is $18 adults and $11 children plus dessert is extra.
