Arrive early. There is plenty of parking but early arrival will put you in good stead. This wonderful scenic spot has much to offer but it is VERY busy during the fall apple season especially on weekends

This was our first stop on Day 1 of our visit to Charlottesville and we did not want to leave! The views are gorgeous! The apple cider donuts are delicious! The winery (Prince Michel) and cidery (Bold Rock) are great amenities at this orchard.

Drive up the mountain on a paved road. Pick peaches or apples depending on season, enjoy ice cream or a glass of wine, sit on the new stone terrace and enjoy a view over Charlottesville! If you are lucky you might hear music!

This place sells apples everything, from ice cream to candied apples to pie alamode. It overlooks Charlottesvile and the mountains and the views are spectacular. The place is surrounded by orchards and there are views from either side of the large barn.

Great opportunities for picking apples and peaches. Fantastic views of Charlottesville’s from the deck. Haven’t tried the grill. Store has fresh picked produce from the orchard for those who don’t wish to pick. Other products available for sale. Grill available but haven’t eaten there.

I’ve visited Carter Mountain twice, but I have yet to pick fruit so I plan to go back! The apple cider donuts are a must try, the gift shop is cute and reasonably priced, the patio is relaxing, and the beverage selection is great!

No animals. You might see deer, wild turkey, raccoons, possum or other animals native to the area, but unless they have a petting zoo event etc. there are no animals there as part of the attraction.

There is no fee, just the cost of the apples you pick. The cost depends on the type of apples you pick but is slightly less than what you'd pay in the stores.
