Drove out to the Dismal Swamp. I was about an hour too late as I was wanting to get there to see the mist rising off Drummond Lake. With that being said, it was still worth it. Gorgeous scenery, and if you have a good...More

I love this place. I have been coming here for 12 years. However in the past couple of years the "bike crowd" tight pants expensive bikes fly up and down here like they own the road. I stay on my side while walking the trail...More

While the museum is small it very nice inside. The walking trail takes you into the swamp. There also are canoes for families. The staff is very helpful and even makes sure the kids all have their lifejackets on and assist you in getting launched.

Not a lot to see here. The road has barely enough width for two cars to pass so due to the road the the bordering canal there are not a lot of places to pull over and see the sites.

This is a great place to walk or take a bike ride without having to worry about vehicle traffic. There are rest rooms at the main parking area and about 4 miles down the trail. You also can launch canoes/kayaks at two different ramps.

Great biking and walking trails. The visitors center is very nice. Family friendly for adults, kids, dogs and handicap. It was a very enjoyable outing. Highly recommend. Plenty off parking and clean restrooms. Picnic areas, but no food sold on site. What you bring in...More

If you have a boat go from great bridge to the NC line and reach the locks. Then to Elizabeth City. No boat? Stop at stations and take the nature walk.

Cooler weather, leaves beginning to fall with just a hint of color. The trail, formerly old Rt. 17 Hwy, is 8.5 miles. A flat two-lane former highway travels next to the Dismal Swamp canal. The canal path surveyed by Geo. Washington and constructed by mules...More

Yes, but there may be times and dates specific to the activity. However, we've seen horses on the weekends - previous answer to check with city parks and recreation department is worth following.
