My wife and I recently visited Chincoteaque Island for their annual Christmas Parade and House Tour. The Captain Timothy Hill House was one of the properties that was listed on the tour. This is the oldest structure on the island and on the tour we were given a wonderful history on the structure and families that occupied the house. Every... More

Louisa and her husband have done a wonderful job with restoring this piece of history. They are knowledgeable and passionate about the Hill House. Louisa gives a wonderful presentation and brings the Hill House back to life. A must see for families!

Captain Timothy Hill House is certainly worth a half hour or more of your time. The tiny cabin is one of the oldest structures on the island and the people working to restore and maintain it have made it a labor of love. Check out the carvings on the outside walls, and the artifacts on display inside while the volunteers... More

I never would have known about Capt. Timothy Hill House if I wasn't doing some sightseeing and saw the door open along with a sign that they were selling mugs and coloring books to help fund the building of a new chimney. I stopped, and was given an impromptu history of the building by the owner as well as how... More

The oldest house on the island. The guides shared lots of information and challenged us to count as many ship carvings on the outside walls as we could find.

We were in Chincoteague Island the week of the "Pony Swim". While we were exploring Main Street, we came across this house. We stopped by to read the history of the house and take some pictures. There are hours that you can go inside and take a closer look, but we did not get a chance to go back, but... More

This little house is the oldest on the island- built in the early 1800's. It's only open one or two days a week and only for a couple of hours each time, but do check the schedule and try to get there when they're open. The volunteer who was there the day we visited was super knowledgeable about the house... More

Authentic old home moved to the current site and renovated...a work in progress. Happened to be open when we were driving past. There were quite a few people in a small space and we were pressed for time. I hope to return with more time to hear all about it's history!
