We were not interested in the beach, so this review is primarily of the visitor center and its environs. While there were a number of hands-on exhibits for children, All in all it was a bit disappointing after visiting the nearby Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge...More

Awesome beach. No restaurants, so bring your own food and drinks. Get there early and have your pick of the beach and parking. There are bathrooms and outside showers. It's in a National Park, so there is an entrance fee. If you're in town for...More

What a wonderful way to spend a Monday with family. We enjoyed a lovely walk on the well-attended but not-too-busy beach and the incredible company of wild horses and dolphins.

We went as a family including two grandchildren. Seeing the wild horses, who are allowed to walk carefree within the park including the parking lots, was a real treat! Stop at the Visitor's center and see the film about the history of the horses. It...More

We started at the Visitors Center, and we walked through the educational exhibits and watched the short movie about the island and it's inhabitants. We learned a lot, and it gave us a great prospective from which to view the park. Our initial goal was...More

Had to drive three hours to get here, but it was well worth it! Whereas this is a great place if you're looking for a beach, it's also really nice if you're just looking to get out, enjoy nature and watch wild animals. Although known...More

Hello, you pay at the gate when you enter. If you take the first entrance over the bridge, it's the national side. The second entrance is the state side. National side is $20 per car, but you get 7 days of admission with... More
