History of Front Royal

Ms. Silek took time to accommodate my grandson . He was on leave and was interested in the Civil War and the roll Front Royal played.

Interesting collection of civil war artifacts along with stories related to each item. The man in charge was very knowledgeable and able to answer questions we had about the collection.

We appreciate your review. We strive to be able to answer visitors' questions, and if we can not we offer to call some of our volunteers who perhaps have more specific knowledge. We try to tell the story of the artifact and the person who owned it. And every year, some new items come along so that we do not... More

We were delighted to tell the story of Front Royal to someone new to the area. We could tell him that some things do not change for the soldier and he could tell us how much some things have changed for a soldier. The Museum tries to make the history of the individual soldier come alive through our artifacts. That... More

We paid our $5 a piece to enter the museum and were led into the museum. Immediately we wondered about the wisdom of our 'purchase'. However after only a few minutes we were totally engrossed in the collection of items. They have some really interesting things on display and the stories that match.

We often tell visitors we are like your grandmother's attic - small but full of "things" We try to show a variety of items, and to tell the story of the item, the owner when we can, and the part the artifact may have played in the War or life at that time. We try to change the exhibits on... More

This is a small museum but has an enormous collection of Civil War items. The collection has a large variety of artifacts.

What a gem! The lady was so helpful. And there is more Confederate history there than you can imagine. Photos, weapons, a piano, many personal effects, and so much more. AARP discount available. Don't miss it if you like history.

A small interesting museum of the history of the area. The lady was very interesting to talk to. She was a local that loved her job. I would recommend this museum for people untreated in history.

A ton of information packed into this small little museum. From Stonewall's Brigade to Mosby's Cavalry to Belle Boyd! The personal effects of the people that were there with storyboards to give you an in depth look at the who, the what and the why. We'll be back!

We were visiting Front Royal and saw this museum listed on "Things to Do." It provided us with a very enjoyable hour or so viewing the large collection of Civil War artifacts, mostly from the Front Royal area. Unlike the big museums' exhibits, this one allows the visitor time to read the informative labels and take a close look at... More

We thank you for your kind review. We strive to tell the story of our artifacts. When you can see the person who owned the item it brings a sense of life to it, we think. We hope that you visit us again. Some exhibits change yearly and some, like prints, only stay for a short time. More

If your into the civil war, then you must see this museum. A small place full of artifacts and memorabilia. Knowledge caretakers run by the daughters of the confederacy.
