well, here our tax dollars got spent well. a very nice museum dedicated to mountain music, which is very comprehensive, thorough, and interactive. local old timers playing there for free in the artists building, gives you a taste of how it is, and how it was. very well constructed, and a worhtwhile stop

We visited here just by chance although our GPS took us on some cow paths to get there. It was such a great find!! The history of mountain music and how it led to bluegrass etc was right up our alley and we got to hear a couple play in the outer building for about an hour before we left.... More

We only had an hour before the Center closed, but we were able to enjoy most of the Center. If you are on the Blue Ridge Parkway, this is a really good place to stop. We were disappointed that we were were too late for the music, but it turned out that there id a jam in the area almost... More

The Blue Ridge Music Center is definitely one of the better stops on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Good first stop when traveling south. Has a great area with the historical information about mountain music & t's evolution. Usually also has live music & at times concerts in the amphitheater.

We arrived just before closing and could not stay long, so came back the next day. The museum was very educational, and we looked at every exhibit. Very good historical perspective on music in the Blue ridge Mountains. An unexpected surprise along the Blue ridge Parkway and well worth visiting.

We had planned to stop here as part of a music road trip through the south. We originally plugged the address into our sat nav which took us a really odd route- it's clearly marked from the parkway so just stick with it until you see signs! It was a glorious, hot and sunny day and we sat outside watching... More
