We ended up being the only two riders today, so the owner (Jean) took us on a nice, leisurely tour of the sprawling Marriot Ranch. It was a beautiful day, and incredibly relaxing. The horses were well mannered, and the ranch has a wide variety...More

If you can't tell if you are stressed, just go on a trial ride and feel the tension release. The empathetic horses reflect your energy so you can take their reflection as a cue to take a breath. Staff and facility are great and make...More

Wanted to surprise my girlfriend (an experienced horse rider) with a trail ride at Marriott Ranch. As a first time rider myself, I couldn’t have pictured a better experience. Jean (owner) took us on a personal trail ride and explained the ins and outs of...More

We love the Marriott Stables! This trip we participated in the cattle drive - an all--day experience that provided the best of both worlds: horseback riding in the beautiful Virginia mountains, AND a gourmet cowboy lunch! Everything was well organized and Jean, the barn manager,...More

People were very friendly and trail was interesting but not exciting. It was a beautiful day so the scenery was spectacular. Horses were well-behaved, well trained. It was a very relaxing ride.More

My family and I have ridden at the Marriott Ranch for years, taking custom rides, participating in cattle drives, and the classic "nose-to-tail" rides (girl scout troop.) We have loved every single one of them. The horses have always been well matched to the ride...More

It's a shame that liability makes it too risky for many stables to offer trail rides. A little competition might improve the friendliness of the guide. But the 90 min ride itself was fine. The scenery here was beautiful! Butterflies everywhere. The Marriott horses are...More

We enjoyed the $45 dollar, 90 minute ride led by a genuine and very nice/helpful guide. The trail was enjoyable and included wooded trails, pastures with longhorn cattle, and creek crossings. Overall, fun and definitely worth the price! Great time, looking forward to coming back!

Agreed the reception was a little grizzly but the trail guides, especially Megan, were pleasant and chatty. The horses are well behaved for even the most inexperienced rider. I found the ride to be well worth the $.
