This park is located at the back of a normal subdivision, so you would almost miss it if you weren't looking for it. Thus it isn't normally too crowded. It has some nice walking trails, but located in the regional park is a national park...More

A beautiful park in the summer and a gorgeous experience in the winter! The trails could be blazed a bit better....not as much of an issue in the summer for sure.

A minor engagement when the Union forces tried to cross the Potomac, ended dying on the bluffs under heavy Confederate fire.

What a beautiful, quiet place to hike and look out over the Potomac! Located behind a subdivision, this little gem is such a surprise when you discover it. I'll be back many times.

It is hard to appreciate the importance of this battlefield without having first read the history. Otherwise it looks like a walk in the woods, an open field, and a cemetery. A setting U.S. Senator was killed in action. The Union commanding general was imprisoned...More

This civil war site is nestled in the back of a housing addition, if you are coming down Battlefield parkway from Route 7 there is no signage to the park. The one coming from Route 15 is so small that if your not looking for...More

Pleasant walk in the woods where you can see small, little known Union & Southern cemeteries. Also nice lookout on the Potomac. Be careful to check for deer ticks afterwards--also lots of other bugs, so use repellant.
