Outstanding VA Winery
May 2021 • Couples
We had a great tasting at Linden and really enjoyed the varietals they offer. We opted for both the white and red tasting and were pleased with both. It was treat to talk wine with owner for bit. Staff were excellent and well informed about the wine, their vineyards, and their philosophy about their vintages. If you get a chance to make a weekend of it visit Liden then stay overnight down the road at the Black Dog Farm Inn.

If I could give 6 stars, I WOULD!

We always enjoy coming here and enjoying the beautiful setting of Jim Law's rustic tasting room while overlooking his perfectly-pruned vineyard. Jim has been VERY instrumental in the VA wine industry and has been a huge part of the fact that some VA wineries have national as well as international acclaim!

If you aren't seriously into wine or enjoying the library-esque setting that is Linden, you might not understand why so many truly appreciate visiting as well as enjoying Linden wines. This is definitely NOT A PARTY PLACE! Please don't bring a party or large groups, you won't be welcome. There are plenty of bar-style wineries in VA that are suited for large crowds where you can enjoy mediocre wines... this isn't one of them.

Jim's staff is incredible as well! We love that we see familiar faces each time we go and appreciate the welcoming atmosphere and great service they provide.

If you are learning wine, this is a great place to learn! The staff are all quite capable of helping you learn and while enjoying their incredible wines.

Linden Never Disappoints (if you review their policies)
Mar 2020
Had a lovely afternoon at Linden Vineyards. The regular tasting at the bar provided tastes of 6 wines and was instructive and conducted by a very personable server. Also did a Cellar Tasting which is a more in-depth tasting of the higher-end red, white and desert wines. Also very well done by another well-versed server. Jim Law makes what I (and many others) consider the best wines in VA. Most of the wines are French in style, and are very well made.

Please review the policies on the website before going. Linden strives to provide a quiet, adult atmosphere, and does not accept groups, parties, picnics, etc. Many of the negative reviews are written by people who either didn't review the policies, or thought that the policies should't apply to them.

Linden is Lovely
Mar 2020
Jim Law is one of the pioneers that has helped raise Virginia wines to the level most of them now deserve and enjoy. He has farmed his property for over 30 years and knows the grapevines intimately. Each harvest, he lets that harvest determine how the wines will taste and how they will be labeled. The winery is very zen and laid back. Over the years Jim has reduced the number of days that the winery is open, how large a group can be, and what type of food he serves. Its a successful operation and reflects his values and priorities. Beautiful property, fantastic wines and professional, knowledgeable staff.

I love this place ...

Jim Law and his team have always led the Virginia wine industry. If you’re serious about the experience, travel to Linden Vineyards and sign up for a cellar tasting. This in depth focus on the wine and the wine making is a necessity for those serious about wine.

Horrid
Dec 2019 • Business
We had made arrangements to come to the winery for our team holiday day events. We were welcomed by a “lady” called Kathleen with the most toxic, abject, rude attitude. You would think you are stepping into Cheval Blanc or Pétrus but no it is Linden VA. We turned around and went to another winery. I hope the owners realize tuf damage that this could cause their winery. We will make a point to never buy one of their wines and make sure to share our experience with our network. It turns out their wines is as pretentious and mediocre as the attitude displayed on site

Horribly rude staff, especially Kathleen
Dec 2019
Avoid this winery. The attitude of the staff mirrors the taste of their wine...both leave bad tastes in my mouth. Kathleen met our group outside and was instantly cold and bitchy. Will never return and will alert everyone we know to do the same and not to purchase their mediocre wine.

After 20+ years, still a gem!
Sep 2018
We had visited here some 20+ years ago and had fond memories of the high quality Chardonnay and the enjoyable vineyard. Much has changed in those years, but the quality of the Chardonnay and the beautiful setting have only improved...along with the delightful lady in the tasting room, Powel(l). We arrived late morning on a fog shrouded Friday and were warmly greeted by Powell who explained the wines we were going to taste along with giving us a little history of the winery in the 20 years we had been absent. There was a nearly full house at the tasting. We especially enjoyed the Chardonnay. Since we were purchasing wine, we were able to taste all 3 varieties of Chardonnay to make our selection. The winery now serves charcuterie and cheese boards with warm crusty banquettes that you can enjoy while sitting on the porch overlooking the property while sipping Linden wines. We purchased both the Chardonnay and the rosé-style wine. Linden is now on our list to return every time we are in the area.
Note: Tastings are available to the public for $10 per person on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday but you should note that members (Friends of Linden) attend special Tastings on Saturday and Sunday and the terrace and deck are reserved solely for them.

Best VA winery, hands down.
May 2019 • Couples
My husband and I like wine. A LOT. We have been to many VA wineries. Linden's winemaking is a true art form. We did the cellar tasting for the second time and left with a case. Didn't bother going anywhere else over the weekend. Best Chardonnay - lovely reds. Can't say enough about this place. Looking forward to our next visit already.

A beautiful winery
Apr 2019
We stopped by, for the first time, today. The setting is beautiful. The folks were friendly and knowledgeable. They only had six wines. Three whites and three reds. We tend to be white wine drinkers, so for us it was a little "limited.". The three we tasted were quite good. I don't believe they offer food, as we didn't see any signs or menus and our wait person never mentioned food The winery is a little off the beaten path, and signage isn't very good. If you want to find it, you'll need to map it out. All in all, a pleasant experience..
