I used to come here with my family when I was young. I have brought my husband and kids here twice now, I think next time we will be camping here. It's so peaceful and the Natural Chimneys are amazing. Mother Nature at her best.

I was really interested when I stumbled across this place when I was planning a visit to the area. It was pretty easy to find though a ways from Route 81. There were some signs once entering the park though the one that pointed to...More

The ride to NCPC is beautiful, through rolling Virginia hills. We visited during the Red Wing Roots festival and enjoyed the beauty of the rocks illuminated at night - worth a visit!

I visited the Natural Chimneys State Park during a fall cycling festival. It is a beautiful setting in the foothills on the western side of the Shenandoah Valley. The "chimneys" are an outcropping of rock that have been worn away over millions of years by...More

We went to the park during the festival. The park is beautiful, and a treasure for Virginia. Easy to get to, and very well maintained.

Has pool, basketball, volleyball courts. Also, Natural Chimneys to view. Several walking trails. Rate for...More

We arrived Saturday, May 27, 2017 and the weather was great. Took the dogs on walks, checked out the grounds, took photos. However, on Sunday, it rained the entire day, not just a steady rain, but poured many times. Perfect place to relax as there...More

We stopped at Natural Chimneys just to see what it was all about after being detoured from our original route. It was off season, but a spectacular feature nonetheless and well worth the stop. Just as exciting as the chimneys was the young black bear...More

This is a perfect place to stretch your legs, walk dogs, and take photographs. There is a trail by the pavilion that will lead you to the top of the Chimneys. The large field in front of the Chimneys is great for a game a...More

It is unlike no other place in the world. It is basically rock formations shaped to look like chimneys. If you are in the area, it is worth seeing. There is also a campground, and a jousting tournament is held here as well.

I have seen both. Some sites are shaded, others are open or partial shade. We camp in a Motorhome, not a tent, so this is just from our walks around the park itself.

Sorry, I really don't know. We hiked up to the base of the chimney's but did not hike to the top. We have been there twice and never made it that far. Going back again in October for the fall foliage.
