Because I knew Maharishi quite well, I like going to his ashram, even though it hasn't been well preserved. People tend to refer to it as the "Beatle's Ashram", but that's silly as they were only there for a pretty short time and it was never about them. There's still a feeling of peace that permeates the place. Now it's... More

Swarg ashram is again one of the oldest and the biggest ashrams in rishikesh, so much so that most of the land is owned by swarg ashram and the entire area/locality around ram jhula is known as swarg ashram area housing other smaller asrams, shops and restaurants.

I have been here twice. A few years ago, I was with some friends who have not been to India. We came here and it was already closed to public because it is part of the Rajaji National Forest though it is on the end part, doable to explore. Back then, you have to bribe the guards but sadly, the... More

I was blown away by how awesome this ashram was. So big and all the abandoned buildings are open for you to explore. Worth it but DO NOT PAY THE 600 RS!! Walk towards the Ganga and follow the little road up, into the forest. It's a small hike, but worth it and makes the experience more exciting!

Lovely to visit the Ashram that the Beatles frequented in the sixties and a bit offensive to be abused and price gouged by local opportunists that feel the need to charge more than the entrance to the Taj Mahal for a visit... Financially a rip off and an abuse.... but other wise a lovely place... people often just hop the... More

I was lucky enough to have the whole place to myself, exploring all the abandoned buildings, finding great works of art in hidden corners or displayed throughout big open halls. Go and explore, observe, absorb the energy. Meditate for a while and imagine what was and what occurred all those years ago. Away from the hustle and bustle. Make sure... More

Baba kali kamli wale is very popular name in rishikesh. This ashram belongs to him.The ashram is quite big and spread over the bank of ramjhoola .They have several hundreds of rooms for the devotees at very nominal rates. Ac, non AC big, small family rooms etc . the rooms are very clean and the ganga view is very spiritual and... More

From shopping and restaurants to beaches and ashrams, this is the place! The Best beaches in town are just upriver from Ram Jhula Bridge, and farthest down river is Maharishi's Ashram where the Beatles visited. In between are all the shops, cafes, bathing ghats and hotels that you need for great ganga darshan.
