After working at a medical mission event for a few days, I had one day to enjoy the volcano. I took a taxi from Hotel Granada to Mombacho for about $6, or 200 Cordobas. I don’t really speak Spanish, but the driver knew where I...More

A nice national park just a few miles from Granada. I did an overpriced tour several years ago and this year went on my own by bus. On buses heading south out of Granada toward Rivas, Nandaime or the Pueblos Blancos, just ask the person...More

The guides are lovely, the zip lining is for an adventurous family, the teens loved it! The jungle canopy rushes by you and the many lines are varied in their height and length. You also pass coffee plants on the walk to the lines.

Look into the crater to see the seething lava. Better at night. The wait can be long to get in, so it is best to get there by 4:30 and wait outside the gate until the cars are let in.

So we loved our visit to Mombacho. It is quite easy to get there from Granada. Have your hostel/hotel tell you where the buses are and then take the public bus. Locals see so many tourists heading there they will point you to the right...More

The puma trail was outstanding! Better like stairs and 4-hour hikes, though! Keltòn was our bilingual guide, who also happens to study biology. He was very knowledgeable, friendly and helpful! We got a private tour in early morning, and you can eat at the snack...More

You can definitely do it on your own! a tour guide is only required for the 2 longer hikes. You can do the basic 1-2 hour loop on your own.

You can contact Cafe Las Flores directly to reserve the zip line tour. It is fabulous. We have visited several times and they are very profesional and safety minded. Highly recommended.
