A fascinating and up close look at cigar making in a beautiful old mansion. Our young guide, while speaking English, had quite a heavy accent, so it was a little difficult to understand him. Still worth the visit to watch how the cigars are individually rolled by hand.

Nice, but a bit pricy to get up and then do your own walk. Nice and worth doing though. Try the longer walk if you can spare 4-5 hours.

An inexpensive look into one of the active volcanoes in Nicaragua. We did the night tour and you could literally see fire from the lava. This tour was combined with an underground cave exploration. Higlhly recommended.

I would say this is the highlight of my trip. There are two trails, the Mombacho or the Puma. They start on the same trail and Puma verges to the left. I did the Puma when I was here last time, it is the harder hike. The Mombacho hike also takes you to some challenging terrains where you can enjoy... More

There are to hike options: the easy/moderate/20% grade one that takes an hour or so OR the 4 hour puma trail that can get up to 60% grade. You get to see pumas, ocelots on the more challenging puma trail ( there is also a night tour that pretty much guarantees animal sightings) and you get to see howler monkeys and sloths... The 5km up to the crater are very steep; this is not a walk for the faint of heart or people who are out of shape. The walk around the crater was nice, but not amazing. From the top, you can see the Islands of Granada and the Apoyo Laguna. Plan at least 4h if you don't want feel rushed.

My wife and I visited on a sunny morning with 2 adult friends and our 7-month-old son. The sun was out, which we learned was unusual for the morning we visited, and afforded us beautiful views from the top. The entrance to the volcano is close to Granada - we stayed near the town square and rode in the car... More

Following our excellent zip lining experience with Cafe Las Flores, we had a exciting open vehicle ride up an incredibly steep road to the near the top of the volcano and then a wonderful walking tour through the cloud forest, identifying many plant species, especially orchids. Also some great views over Granada city and Lake Nicaragua.

Although a guide is very informative, it's not at all necessary if you just want to hike and enjoy the views. We did the quick 1 hour loop around the crater and wish we had done more. It was an extremely quick and easy hike, but it still offered great views and lots of vegetation. Coffee plantation opens at 9am,... More

Hiking through a rainforest is beautiful, though the clouds obscured any potential views on the rainy day of our visit.
