We drove through the National Park on our way from Santo Stefano di Sessiano to Castelli. We saw very few other vehicles on our way there or back, but we did see hundreds of cows, some of which were on the road. We were glad...More

We did the day hike up to Corne Grande in the Gran Sasso national park (following the cicerone hiking guide book of Abruzzo). Stunning scenery but not an easy hike. You reach 2,900 m and the last couple of a hundred are quite a scramble....More

really enjoyed the trip there/back and just being there. Flowers were beautiful. Walking is very nice and views are spectacular. Would definitely recommend and it will give you a better perspective of the whole area, which is not all about beaches

This wild and lovely scenery is reminiscent of Denali National Park in Alaska. Add in countless medieval fortified hilltop villages and plenty of free ranging animals and it makes for an unforgettable experience. Roads are windy, narrow and steep but scenery is absolutely beautiful.
