We visited this garden on the recommendation of our hotel reception, having no previous knowledge of the place; we are so glad we did, it was delightful. The informative video was very helpful in our understanding of what to look out for and how the garden had been developed. A fascinating place, full of lush planting and unusual plants. We... More

Wonderful gardens across many levels but beware as you need a reasonable fitness level to make your visit worthwhile. Amazing specimen trees and shrubs, great collection of brugdansia(angel trumpets), fabulous views across the bay to Forio, plenty of WC facilities with a pleasant cafe.

We visited the La Mortella to coincide with a musical recital being held in the concert room. Firstly, the gardens are both beautiful and peaceful. You can spend a good two hours wandering around viewing plats flowers and trees from pretty well all over the world. The climate of Ischia enables most species to grow here and even if you... More

Nothing to say except get there when it opens to fully enjoy these magnificent gardens...This began my journey into discovering more about Lady Walton and William Walton's music. Astounding creation. Garden of Eden on earth.

Superb collection of plants from all around the world set out in a garden that transmits tranquillity. Excellent café. Excellent value at €12. Not obvious where to get off the busses that pass near the entrance. Perhaps ask the driver to stop at the right spot.

A visit to Mortella Gardens is a wonderfully unique experience. The setting is in a kind of quarry which is part of the lovely estate created by the composer, William Walton, and his wife Susanna. Exotic plants fill the meticulously maintained gardens. Even the restroom facilities are lovely! For those who are interested, reasonably priced musical events take place regularly... More

If you love gardens then this is a must. Spend the day taking in the huge range of plants and stunning views. Stop at the cafe for the lovely range of teas served in gorgeous China tea pots that you can buy in the shop and don't forget to have a slice of cake. A great and inspiring day out

Spent a few hours at this wonderful garden gem. Had to walk up steps but totally worth it. Nice lunch at their restaurant.

This is a beautiful garden, created by Susanna and William Walton (the British composer), and designed by landscape architect Russell Page. We found our visit magical and enchanting. The garden is extensive and yet it unfolds gradually; though there may be many visitors the spaces feel intimate, charming and full of surprises. For example in the 'Victoria house' can be... More

One of the highlighte of Ischia, a must place to visit, the gardens are spectacular and can be reached by public transport or taxi, I certainly would not rent a car as local driving is a little hair-raising
